Farmer's Log 2

Great work. It’s cool to see someone doing oly lifts along with more traditional strength training.

I can’t believe that nobody has made any snatch jokes yet. You all disappoint me.

It was definitely harder changing hand position during reps, but I don’t think it was unstable enough. Might buy some cheap balls to do them on. [/quote]

Cheap balls… snicker…

How about using baseballs or softballs? Soccer balls even?

yay snatches!!

Checking in… Been too long.

I have to keep stressing to my kid that we are organic beings and not machines. Sometimes the weights are just heavier then others… Ok, uh, maybe that is confusing…

Uh, yeah what he said. Sometimes its there and others it’s not…

Great lifting though!

I’m trying to restrain myself. Not easy.

Brett you need to get a video from the rear to see how clean and tight your Snatch really is.

hows that James? LOL

Much better.

Do you believe in the theory that your 1rm deadlift face is the same as your ‘orgasm’ face?. I hope for my wife’s sake it’s not.

Video for purposes of study; the 1rm DL face

I noticed the same thing as Snap about your deadlifts. It almost looks like you’re going up on your toes at the top.

I’m disappointed in your immaturity James. You Sir have a very dirty mind, tut tut.

Anyway I’m off to lift now. Tonight after a short warm up to get myself “loose and lubricated” I’m going to spend a while “working hard on my snatch” followed by some “hip thrusts” to “really pound my glutes”. Then it’s on to “pulls”, I “will start slowly then gradually build up the intensity until I’m pulling really, really hard” then I’ll finish off with some “light pumping movements to increase the blood flow” while concentrating on keeping my form “nice and tight” and then I’ll probably finish with a few quick “jerks”.

Isn’t there a crossfit saying , something like ‘don’t blow your wod on the first jerk’ !!.

You must be feeling all ‘swole up’ and after all you are a ‘volume’ man.

CK - Yeah I’m on the look out for a nice pair of cheap balls. 2 small footballs would be perfect, nothing too small. A nice handful!

Alexus - You are looking mighty buff in your new avi! The deads and bench really seem to be paying off.

Null - Thanks for checking in.

Git - You’re a better man than I. I couldn’t resist an opening like that.

Fischer - Nice!! You beat me to it.

Mrs O - You are both right I do go up on to my toes. I can’t think why, seems a pointless thing to do. I used to do lots of calf raises with a shrug at the top, maybe I’m crosswired wrong now. When I shrug I do an automatic calf raise. Dunno.

BN - Haha.

Bench Press w/u to 4 singles x 297 lbs

Standing DB Press 9-6 x 63.5 lb’ers

Pushdowns 10-10-10 x 115 lbs

Face Pulls 10-10-10 x 69 lbs (supersetted with) Scaptions 10-10-10 x 22 lb’ers

First time doing scaptions. The very top of that movement is the only place I still feel some shoulder pain/tightness. Not sure if that means I should work that movement or not? Opinions?

Pleased with the singles considering my PR is 308 lbs. Even managed a slight pause on the chest on the last one.

aww, shit, somebody get me a towel

Nice Fucking week.

I just caught up on the last few pages-
you are on a serious roll with your training
nice work very solid training.

I have made med balls before with a basket ball, innertube patch kits and sand

you poke a whole in the ball wedge a mini funnel in there pour in a bunch of sand and goop it up with glue

hmm…

i would say that pain is not good and should be avoided (well, the kind of pain you are probably talking about, i mean…)
and tightness sounds like something needs to be stretched and / or rolled / released. can you replicate the movement and poke around and figure out what might help??

You are looking mighty buff in your new avi! The deads and bench really seem to be paying off.

why thankyou. and even better, my hips externally rotate beautifully

dammit. i wish…

Kev - Thanks. Love the idea of how to make a medecine ball. I’m will definitely have a go at that when I get settled.

Alexus - It definitely feels like it’s scar tissue binding or something and that it just needs a good “rip” to sort it. Don’t have anywhere enough knowledge to try and do it myself, I’d probably end up making it worse. Shoulders don’t feel too bad today after the scaptions. Actually considering I benched yesterday they feel better than normal. That exercise might be a keeper.

25/08/2011

Overhead Squats 8-8 x BAR

Full Snatch
110 lbs x 2-2-2
132 lbs x 2 then 8 singles

Deadlift w/u to

462 lbs x 1-1-1
506 lbs x 0-0-0
500.5 lbs x 0

Subscap Pull Ups 5-5-4 x bodyweight

GHR 6-6-6 x bodyweight

Snatch form was much better tonight. Dropped quicker and was more stable at the bottom.

Failing to budge 462 last week really dented my confidence big time. Despite getting 4 failures in a row tonight and getting nothing past the shin, I feel much more confident now having actually had 500+ in my hands. At least I managed to break everything off the floor. Took away a lot of doubt tonight.

This is my last attempt at 500. Blink and you’ll miss it.

Nothing beats a nice snatch…

I have faith that your deads will come along.

I didn’t notice the head movement, it wasn’t intentional, must be an unconscious thing. I’d be interested to hear your coach’s theory behind it why it might be beneficial.

I’ll ask. If he doesn’t know why, he’ll make something up.

Loved the vid of the fail at 500 lb. That intensity. You’ll get it someday. And much rejoicing there will be.

Full snatch…hum…must a term from Wales…but it does sound good,

Maybe the three singles at 462 sacked your energy a bit? 500 is big doings young man…you’ll get it soon enough!

This guy is on Celebrity Big Brother in the UK at the moment.

Gotta be the strangest six pack I’ve ever seen.
