Brady-Last year was an aboration. This year back to reality

He will return to reality but still has the same core or players around him. I think 35-40 TDs is not out of the question for him this year.

Favre- Don’t drink the Kool-Aid, Jets still suck. He’ll be missing Donald Driver and Greg Jennings by week 2 and he always had a good Tight End to bail him out in GB.

What do you mean Favre has always had a good TE to bail him out? He hasn’t had a good TE since 2004 when Bubba had his last decent year. You could also make the case that Cotchery and Coles are somewhat comparable receivers for Favre. I’m a huge GB fan but not a Favre apologist. Just offering an opposing view.
cobrakai wrote:
Marion Barber- The guy isn’t an every down back and teams will D-up this year on him. Last year he had the pleasure of coming behind Julius Jones all refreshed and inside the Red Zone. Not this year.
Now this I just don’t get. Why do people think he doesn’t have the ability to be an every down back? What has he done in his career to lead you to believe that? Sure, he split with Julius last year and this year he’ll split with Felix. He is more than capable to carry the rock 20 times in a game. And with that line and that offense, that’s all he needs. He’s going to be a top 5 back this year.
cobrakai wrote:
Sleepers: Royal-WR from Denver. This is Cutlers year. Marshall out 3 games(maybe 2)

Jonathan Stewart- He’s a man child, DeAngelo Williams will be carrying his jock strap by Week 3.

Patrick Crayton- Not so much a “sleeper” but he’s a great pick. T.O and Witten can’t catch every pass/TD and no more Terry Glenn.

Whichever RB is the backup to Edgerrin James. Sorry Edge, but the Gold Grill ain’t saving you this year. You’re worn down with no fire. Get your butt pad ready.
Can’t disagree with these and would like to add Chris Johnson to that list. The hype is huge surrounding him and I hope he takes over for Lenwhale early in the year.

Now we are talkin’ fantasy football!

Donald Lee is as good or better than Bubba was for Favre. WAY more athletic is say the least. Bubba would just sit in the end zone and it was crazy how Favre would always find him wide open. Baffled me.

Barber=Bruiser…Bruiser aren’t 25-30 carry RB’s for too long. They get broke down fast!!! Ala Larry Johnson

Ok, I just looked up Donald Lee’s stats from last year, I concede that he posted better numbers than I thought.

However, I won’t back down on Barber. Last year he put up 975 yds, & 10 TDs rushing on 204 carries. Which breaks down to 13 carries a game. Give him 20 carries a game and watch him post even better numbers. He doesn’t need 25-30 rushes a game on that team.

The Chiefs needed LJ to carry the ball 30 times a game because they are horrible and he’s their best player.

I have no idea. I am in a 10 team yahoo league with standard scoring as well. Is there a way to find out what my draft position is?

Nope, not if the draft order is determined randomly by Yahoo. I don’t know if your commish can institute a draft order based on last year’s standings.

I just did a Yahoo draft on Monday and our draft order is determined randomly by Yahoo 30 minutes before the start of the draft.

Any questions you might have concerning how to draft, which players to draft or anything, shoot. I’m a freakin’ fantasy geek! haha

I’m telling you guys I’ve played for many years and ESPN has the best free one with live scoring, can’t beat it.
Thats the one i am in as well the only problem is they don’t break ties and at the end of the year it sucks.

Just had my draft Sun. my sleeper was Ronald Curry w/Javon Walker being a tool it could be a very big year for him. Desean Jackson w/Philly is another one to watch now that Kevin Curtis is out, Jackson has blown it up in preseason and McNabb seems to like him a lot.

QB-C.Palmer/Favre/ Picked Russell as a flex player last pick who ever you want.

RB-B. Westbrook/ M.J.Drew

WR-M. Harrison/R.Curry/D.Clark/Desean Jackson

Def. Balt./Cle.

2 Kickers.

This is the first year for the league, so it is going to be randomly generated by yahoo. I’ll bet.

Thanks for the offer. I’m going to go with the RB’s and WR’s first strategy.

I do have one question, though.

Do you draft all your prospective starters first? I have 9 positions to play every week. Do I pick those 9 first, then go back and fill up the bench, or do I pick my RBs and WR’s first, and take what ever TE’s and D’s and backup QB’s are left at the end of the draft?

Pick what is best available at the time, in my league McNabb didn’t even go until the 6th round, unless its Brady or Peyton i always pick up a qb later in the rounds.I always start by getting the best rb available depending where i pick.

what do you guys think about Jamal Lewis for this season. I looking at taking him as my first round pick (keeper league with 12 teams). He’s one of the highest ranked players who will not be kept.

his yards after contact was 2nd only to LT last season and hes a beast but getting older. Browns O-Line and overall offense seems to be primed for a decent season.

Just had our draft yesterday. Here’s what I wound up with:

QB-D. McNabb
RB-M. Barber
RB-M. Turner
WR-R. Wayne
WR-T.J. Houshmandzadeh
TE-J. Shockey
K-N. Kaeding
Def- Giants
Flex-C. Chambers

Bench
QB-M. Schaub
RB-J. Fargas
WR-P. Crayton
RB-S. Slaton
TE-B. Utecht

I had the No. 9 pick out of 12 teams. I’m happy with my team, especially the wideouts. I think Slaton has the chance to be a breakout stud in Houston, especially since Green and Brown both have a history of injuries and Green is on the downside of his career.

I know McFadden will get touches, but Fargas should still see a good number of carries. Crayton might crack my starting lineup; all depends on how much SD throws to Chambers.
Tell the truth - Do you actually know how to spell T.J.'s last name or did you copy and paste it? If the former, well-played!

And I do not like your new avatar either, but I also take no joy in Osi being out. Kind of scary to imagine him playing bookends at Troy with Demarcus Ware.

I dunno - I would feel really leery about a 29 year old running back whose initials are not LT. I do think there are a lot of nice pieces in the overall offensive puzzle for the Browns (Anderson at QB, Edwards at WR and Winslow at TE), but Lewis as a 1st round pick? I realize you are in a keeper league (how many keepers per team anyway?), but I would be more prone to take a shot at a rookie RB like Darren McFadden than Jamal Lewis. Rookie RB’s always have the potential to pop and you can then potentially keep them for the future if they do.

I don’t do that. Like someone else said, you are looking to grab the best available player when you can. Here is a breakdown of the draft I just did. 12 team, Yahoo league.

Rd. 1 - A.P.
Rd. 2 - Fitzgerald
Rd. 3 - Colston (i decided, like many, to go back to back WRs this year because the lot of RB2s is lowly. I’d rather have a couple of WR1s than reach for a risky RB2.
Rd. 4 - Bush (not crazy about him but here was there and I think the value was right)
Rd. 5 - S. Holmes (my stable of WRs is complete, now I focus on depth at RB. Also, since all the top QBs went off the board in the first 2 rounds, I can wait on a QB)
Rd. 6 - McFadden (possible starting RB in Rd 6 is good value)
Rd. 7 - Cutler (hope he breaks out this season)
Rd. 8 - Owen Daniels (needed a TE and probably reached for him here, but they were flying off the board)
Rd. 9 - Earnest Graham (couldn’t believe he was on the board still, another starting RB in Rd. 9 is great value)
Rd. 10 - Vincent Jackson
Rd. 11 - Chris Johnson (sleeper pick)
Rd. 12 - Jason Campbell (still not sure I like this pick by me, I was targeting Matt Schaub but he went the round before)
Rd. 13 - Ray Rice (if mcgahee has knee problems all year, possible starter)
Rd. 14 - Ahmad Bradshaw
Rd. 15 - Sydney Rice
Rd. 16 & 17 - kicker and defense

So, there you have it some rationale behind why I picked who and when. I never draft a QB early, I’d rather let other people reach for the QBs, I’ll take RBs all day long. Also, never, NEVER draft a kicker before the last two rounds. The difference between the first and last point scoring kickers last year was only 20 pts. I believe. Let everyone else grab them in earlier rounds. That’s where you pick your sleepers and look like a genius when they are starting by midseason.

I’d have to agree with this. I would use that pick on a player that has more upside than Lewis.

Alright Folks!

Don’t be bitches, put your cursor where your mouth is.

Join TKO in this easy and fun fantasy football game to play for the 2008 season, it’s FREE.

Each week, you will get to select a team consisting of two quarterbacks, two running backs, four wide receivers, two tight ends, one kicker and one team defence.

Players can set up their own private leagues – great for office pools or just gathering a groups of friends – in order to trash talk a smaller, more familiar group of people as you climb in the standings.

I’ll set up a private league called, hmmm I don’t know, how does T-Nation sound? (Once the site allows for setting up groups).

Cheers,

You want me to keep going?

Eagles Fans Reach the Ultimate Low
© St. Petersburg Times
published September 14, 2003

On Tuesday, during his regular weekly radio show, Joe Jurevicius related comments made to him during pregame warmups for Monday’s game between the Bucs and Eagles. Philadelphia fans were yelling at Joe, “Where is your son” and “How’s your son?”

How low and despicable someone must be to use the death of a newborn child in an attempt to psychologically undermine an athlete before a sporting event. We all knew the Philadelphia fans were low-brow, but that set the bar at a new low.

It would appear that this ploy did not achieve the desired effect on Joe, as he and his teammates proceeded to deliver the Eagles and their scurrilous minions a 17-0 lesson on how to be completely humiliated on national television.

I got my draft this weekend, I’ll post my picks later.

Here are a couple of guys to keep an eye out for:

Michael Turner (RB - Falcons) - He is going to get an asston of work (over 300 projected carries) - he can catch out of the backfield, and he has fresh legs from being the odd man out in a platoon for the past few years.

Reggie Bush (RB - Saints) - He is going to give you a combo run / pass attack as usual, and you know the Saints can’t stop anybody.

His value totally dropped this year (I think hes projected to go in the late 6th round and he was a top 25 pick last year) - he may not be a stud back, but Deuce is coming off surgery and I think he’ll bounce back. Bonus points for fucking Kim Kardashian or whatever her name is.

Chester Taylor (RB - Vikings) Of course he is behind AP who is a monster, but AP might b fragile and Chester can run. He is projected to go in round 12, so maybe you can handcuff this guy late.

Dwayne Bowe: (WR - Chiefs) Very talented WR with good production with SHITTY QB last year. I think he was a rookie too, he can only get better. Projected to go in round 7.

Robert Meachem: (WR - Saints) Young guy fighting for 2nd or 3rd WR spot on the Saints. Will get a lot of looks and has breakaway TD speed. Can pick him up very late.

If you get late picking a TE I like Ben Watson or Kevin Boss (rounds 12 and 13 respectively).

But really what the fuck do I know?
