Famous People At Your Gym

This was actually discussed here a looooong ass time ago, about two years I think. I thought I’d post the link cus’ there’s some really cool stories in that thread:

If you don’t feel like reading all of that then here’s what I contributed (don’t pay attention to dates, like I said this was two years ago):

Hey pooh,
I’m guessing you go to Richmond Rd. No celebs ever come to the Boston joint. My buddies at that one say the wrestlers all come there whenever they are in town. Someone told me that once, awhile back, Kane was there and was doing free-weight military presses with 400 pounds! I thought that was pretty amazing considering it’s rare for a lot of people to even bench that much. Most people will call BS and I was a bit skeptical myself, but the person who told me had no reason to lie. Not that I really give a shit about the WWF (or E or whatever the shit it is now) and I know they all use supplement S. 'Roids or not, though, that’s strong. On a side note, if you’re like most people on this board you could give two shits about bodybuilding, but just in case you’re interested the Bluegrass Muscle Classic is coming up here on May 31st. The main reason I mention is because Stan McQuay is the guest poser so you might see him at Gold’s around that time. I’m actually going to go to the show because I’ve never been to a show before and I’m kinda interested to see what it’s like."

400 lbs on the military press is scary strong…

On an funny side note, someone mentions getting taken down by Randy Couture and some other Team Quest guys and also about his upcoming fight with Chuck Liddell in one of his posts…thought that was kind of funny considering the recnet surge in popularity of their show.

hey, ‘only’ 5’9… thats average!

I see R. Kelly at my gym every few weeks.

And no, he issn’t peeing on anyone in the showers. Himself maybe, but not underage girls.

Gym Max in Gatineau?

No; I trained at Laval University in Quebec City one summer, which is where a number of athletes trained.

I saw Hugo Girard at Mega Gym 24 or whatever it’s called in Quebec; I think he was doing a strongman even that weekend.

When Ronnie Coleman was in Gatineau for a show he passed by Montreal and trained at the Rock. Well they tell me he trained but I was out of town.

By the way, I didn’t know about your name when I chose this one last year. It’s a nickname people gave me, but I’ll change it to something else.
No need to change your handle dude, I lay no claim to it. Just seems that ‘mowgli’ is taken on most sites now so I have started using ‘mowgli1959’, not a biggie. Long boring story about why I thought of it.

Most famous person I have met at the gym is Johanna Dejager, Canadian female Natural BBd’g Champ 3 years straight. We had a good conversation. A couple of other national level athletes at the gym too. The ‘Y’ on merivale in Ottawa. Johanna only goes on heavy leg days.
Met Travis Lyndon at a fashion show I was in. The local TSN ‘talking head’ is at the gym too.
Train hard. Talk with ya later…

I thought he was looking in pretty good shape in one of those commercials . . . thought I was going nuts.

Carrot-Top works out at Nautilus Plus in Torrington, CT, whenever he’s in town for a show. The owner has no clue who he is, but proudly showed me the pics they took the last time he was there.

Carrot-Top has worked out there numerous times. He also worked out at Torrington’s YMCA (where I usually lift.) A few of my buddies were there when he was lifting and said the guy is pretty jacked. He told a friend of mine that he had to do a 1-800-CALL-ATT comercial where he was supposed to be a scrawny guy surrounded by muscular dudes, but carrot top was bigger than the guys they casted. So they ended up having to go find more muscular guys.

His workout consisted of smith machine bench pressing with a lot of grunting haha. But he was a cool guy, gave all my buds tickets to his show (figures it was probably the one day last summer I wasnt in the gym)
I actually have a lot of famous folks at my gym at different times. Its in NYC. I’ve seen Claire Danes, John Leguizamo, Mo Vaughn, Jimmy Fallon, a bunch of supermodels and others. Its pretty damn cool.
