Total testosterone testing isn’t 100% accurate, you can get 100 ng/dL deviation in either direction. Due to the T gels half-life, the exogenous testosterone is washed out of your system within 7 days.
Sometimes after stopping TRT, you can get a rebound higher than baseline as the HPTA comes back online which is temporary.
Wow thanks systemlord, your answer is very accurate.
My short story is:
Last year i suffered testicle pain for 2 months (on 2019 diagnosticated varicocele on left testicle), did blood test and came i have “low testosterone” (around 300) so urologist/ endocrinologist put me on TRT with Testavan (1 puff x day).
Since i have 2 little kids i switched to injections (100mg/nl).
Did TRT for like 5 months then blood work, my testosterone was at 9,00. My endocrinologist get scared and told me to stop everything. So i did.
After 50 days did blood test and t was 5,00
Then I tried the gel just for curiosity for 10 days (probably something useless).
The issue is during the 10days of gel using and, a week without i was feeling like shit (like before trt) so did another blood test and i found 6,2 level… i was like: “how its possible”?
I’m assuming that’s 900 ng/ml which is 900 ng/dL. That’s normal my friend. The problem is you’re dealing with a frightened doctor unfamiliar with TRT and he/she is overreacting out of fear.
If that level is too high for you, lower the dosage. It’s so simple it’s stupid!
For reference, you’re supposed to check levels 4-6 hours after applying the gel. Any sooner and you’ll be testing at peak, not very useful.
In my experience, endocrinologist’s are the worst type of doctor for TRT!
During that 5 months i was feeling great: great concentration for work, i was more happy, i was able to manage the stress easily, more interest in the things… (my goal with testosterone is not something related to the gym but for the normal life with work and kids)
In fact i found this forum because I started do my own research suspecting the endo (she) is not doing very well.
I will consider to restart the trt, but should i self administer it? Do you know any clinic/ doctor can follow me (online)?
Unfortunately where i live the trt is only a taboo related to doping in the sport.
There is your problem, a female managing male hormones. Women don’t know what it’s like to be a man. Women tend to overreact if you know what I mean, better to have a male managing your hormones.
I would consider that treatment a success! I don’t understand how your doctor is freaking out over that. It sounds like she didn’t care how well you were doing, the number frightened her.
I’m sorry I do not. I don’t even know where you’re from.
