Facebook: Odd Friend Requests

Okay, yes, I have a Facebook account, and as means of explanation (beyond it being kinda fun knowing what your friends are up to without actually having to call them), it seems to be the only way to actually keep in touch with some people these days.

My issue however, is getting these ‘odd’ friend requests. A lot of people who are into fitness, or bodybuilding just like to have anyone associated with the lifestyle as their friends (50000 friends? really?!), and I very often get add requests from people that I realize saw my profile on another natural bodybuilder’s friend list. I very rarely add them, unless it’s someone I may have spoken to at a show, or at least I’ve had some interaction with.

The reason I’m writing this, is that as I make no secret of what my actual name is, a few people from T-Muscle have friend requested me. Totally fine in my book, especially if it’s someone who I actually know who they are on here,… but please tell me who you are! -lol. Really, without sounding like an ass, I ignore so many damn friend requests simply because I don’t know who these people are!

Okay,… that’s all I’ve got to say about that!

My real name is an amalgam of the first names of the actors who have played James Bond and Indiana Jones.

My advice is to never accept someone you dont know. Too many creepy old dudes out there that just want to see pics of you in your trunks.

And the pics of girls in bikinis. Yea theyre old dudes also lol

Pierce Phoenix?

If you get a request from The Devil don’t be alarmed. =)

Well Stu now that you are famous, maybe you need one of those Facebook pages for fans? You can segregate the odd admirer from the actual friend or family.

you’re just so popular, we get it!

I hate all those random friend requests. A lot of them are friends of friends of friends.

The only requests that I accept are from people that I have actually met in real life.

Cool story bro

Same here. At least you know every single friend in your account. Although I have accepted friends of friends, if I know it is inevitable to meet them.

I ignore on average one request a month. Most of those aren’t even actual people, just fake accounts created to promote something or other. Sometimes I also get requests from people at my uni that I have definitely never met, I usually ignore those too (although there has been an exception or two…).

The only requests that actually make me spend some time trying to figure out if I know someone are those from the people in the four years below me at my old high school - most of them I know by face but not by name (or I’ve forgotten their full names since I’ve left). The problem is, most of them are new to Facebook (seems it has only become a big thing in Poland a couple of months ago) and don’t have them photos up, so the only way I can tell I might know them is by who our mutual friends are.

Life was so much easier when you would just meet people randomly and forget their names within 15 minutes…

Look Bonez, I thought I explained that it was an honest mistake. I just wanted to invite you to a pool party I’m having this weekend, and things got out of hand.

I get a lot schmoes trying to add me. I assume for another guys such as way who has a half naked picture he’d get 30x more

I seem to get a few odd ones alright. Friends of relations, friends of friends, hell even people from the same general area.

Only person I ever added from T-Nation was Kerley 'cos it was just so obvious it was him(his pic was him unleasing his mighty yield).

—If a response is given, usually short, cryptic and incoherent

Get on FB and send PM or chat via IM

----Friend response within seconds…“Oh hai!, what’s going on!?!”
