Experience Off Anabolic Diet

Best of luck to all. Glad to see some experimentation. While I think the AD and NHE are superior (if you can avoid making the loads a junk-fest and dial in it’s duration to one’s individual needs)I think variations thereof that respect the general rationale are bound to have benefit.

Glad to have you input, DH.

What is the NHE? I did a search to no avail.

Thanks, man.

Thanks for the support Disc Hoss. By the way whats the NHE?[/quote]

Haha

I think it’s called the Natural Hormone Enhancement diet or something along those lines.

I’ve been on the AD going on 4 months now, and am thinking about tweaking it more to my liking.

I feel I’m missing out on the PWO insulin spike and would like to start taking gatorade powder(sucrose/dextrose; all I have now) with protein PWO. Other than that, I would like to keep carb-ups to one clean day a week with a little more protein that day. Incorporating more veggies into my diet is also something I’ve been meaning to do.

All I’ve been eating so far is lettuce due to fear of carbs, but now I’m starting to think that eating more veggies I like such as cabbage or spinach would outweigh any negative aspects.

So basically, I would like to have a PWO insulin spike 4 days per week(the days I weight-train), eat all the fiberous veggies that I’d like(usually with every meal), and carb-up only once per week with a more moderate protein intake. Sound good?

Well I didn’t have much success over christmas staying away from carbs. Infact I don’t think im totally adapted to fat yet. The reason I think that is because I still crave sugar sometimes. It comes and goes… but god I hate eating carbs. I swear its like my body treats them like a drug or something… I get way tired when I eat them and then they also pack on fat, what else could be worse in a food?

2 questions: (1) what are you eating on your carb-ups? Your carb choices, fat intake, protein intake, etc (2) are you doing cardio and/or energy systems work at all?

That you are, in your words, packing on fat from eating carbs after a state of depletion is a red flag to me and an indication that something is wrong with your carb-loads and/or training (training in the sense that you can dramatically increase insulin sensitivity with cardio/ESW).

Not all of us would agree with the PWO carb feeding, not me anyway. Definitely increase your vegetable intake including those that have been dubbed as having too many carbs - your cutting your carb load down on the weekend. Make sure your weekly carb loads are clean and if you would like to get some carbs during the week, I would eat them at your last meal of the day instead of PWO.

Or, you can try it for two weeks each way and see what works better for you.
