Experience Off Anabolic Diet

Hey guys, I know I haven’t posted my ratios in a few days… so here they are for today.

Fat: 162.5g --------- 61%
Protein: 208.5g ----- 35%
Carbs: 18.3g -------- 4%

Calories: 2409kcal

I looked up some stuff on those crossfit exercises you guys were talking about. It looks pretty extreme. Is there a certain resource or website I can look for for more information on that?[/quote]

crossfit.com FAQ has the general idea. It’s good if you need to condition for something like a fight. Great to cut fat if you eat right. But can be catabolic as fuk if you want to gain lean mass. I use a similar style of training for very fat clients. So try them out once or twice per week in place of boring cardio. With friends is best, so one can time and then compare times.

I like the benchmarks they have though. good to work toward. I’m trying to do the 21 straight muscle ups one now. I have to get to 1 first though.

mdragon…

you’re right about that. what I’m referring to is those of us that are already on a “reduced carb” plan, and are eating too many calories from fat and protein. it is still possible to overeat and some of us don’t take that into account. cycling fat is just another point of attack.

chris…

we don’t so much train knife on knife but use Kali as the general motions. most of our knife work is just awareness and attacks from a dominant position. remember who and what we are training for.

biz…

the jist you should take away from crossfit is the high intensity and the methods used to increase it. crushing time or distance works well. functional, intense, and random is a great summary. it works great for us as we should always train for the unknown.

i’ve been slacking from my diary but i had a long flight FRI. I had to bring a huge bag of almonds so i wouldn’t have to eat plane food but definitely have not eaten enough calories in the past two days. Todays run should a nutroll.

Sifuinkorea, thx m8.

mdragon & realpeanutbutter,
I’ve actually been doing 1 1/2 day carb ups and they are pretty wimpy, on Sunday’s I usually just have a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast then jump back into the low CHO. It would be super easy for me to cut down to 1 day. Maybe if I drop cals down @500/day the combination would be enough to do it. Sounds worth a try.

Now that I’ve got my 3 months in it’s time to experiment a bit. I’ll keep you guys posted on my progress in January. Thanks again.

Watch how you drop those day cals. I’d drop at 100 per day, maximizing adaptive fat loss. And not too low. The beauty of the AD is the fat loss with the high cals. So yeah cut to one day but make it a big, clean day. You don’t need High GI/GL but you do need High g of CHO. oatmeal and shit.

I can’t stand potatoes so I can’t really recommend them in good conscience, but I hear they are good CHO upers.

drop gradually.

Yeah, knife is fun. And obviously you guys are more into knife as a A) last resort B) functional stealth. Knife defense is the key. This is why i love southnarc and crafty dog. brilliant knife minds. anyhow off to get smacked around.

Well, i’ve been fucked up the ass for the past few days with cookies and shit. Holidays are ridiculous, I try to tell my mom not to make it, but she just keeps doing it. And she has put on a ton of weight.

I explain to her how me and her are extremely insulin insensitive (my dad and my sister are the opposite, its really weird), but she just doesn’t listen and keeps on making shit.

So i’ve been surrounded by temptation for the last few days. And I just had to do a carbup today, it was getting to me. I made sure to choose fruits though, and this is the first good carbup i’ve ever had. All clean foods and no overeating. lol.

Anyway, here’s the plan, tomorrow to christmas 20g CHO per day not including fiber, christmas I’m going to try to make into another clean carbup. Gonna start my day off with fruits. I notice that when I start clean I tend to stay clean. Then after christmas no carbup until 12 days later.

So that’s the plan. And I’ve noticed that I’ve been kinda lazy with my numbers, so I’m going to make sure to do those every day in order to stay on track… starting tomorrow =).

I have been thinking about going on the Anabolic diet to bulk, but I have consistently elevated liver enzymes recently AST 100 ALT 180. My MRI was normal, I have to see a liver specialst, and if he doesn’t find anything, but my enzymes remain high, should I go on the Anabolic diet or do you think that it could be hazardous to my liver?

so i left seoul on fri morn at 11am and landed in NY at 11am on fri… you read that correctly. talk about jetlag.

for the flight i ate about 1000kcals worth of almonds and not much else. i landed and we ate some eggs. I guess then when my saturday began it was more cream in my coffee and eggs in butter. but now I’m running around visiting so i’m not eating as much - lots of fat and protein with little carbs but not much overall. I feel like i’ve lost about 5lbs in the past 3 days.

training has been almost nil but at least my mom had volunteered me to move her so i got a decent workout with her furniture and those fucking stairs. monday will see me getting back in the saddle with a foot march and probably a run later on. hopefully by tomorrow i’ll be less loopy.

all in all, my diet is tight right now. and it’s weird being back in the states but i get to spend time with my new nephew!

SK

Merry christmas boys. Cookies cookies cookies.

-chris

merry christmas to u too. and yes indeed, gotta love the cookies cookies cookies.

Merry X-mas, indeed.

I made it through X-mas eve without a single gram of carbs - even with all of my Aunt’s cookies and cakes around! One more day to go, but you know, it doesn’t feel like much of a task. I guess with enough time away from carbs, they become less meaningful. Like il cazzo wrote on the original thread, it’s nice to able to be social once in awhile without freaking about breaded wings.

As you guys know, there as been a lot of talk of late on the original thread concerning our philosophy here - less frequent carb feedings. I already posted over there so I won’t repeat it here.

I’ve been busy traveling and visiting family while I am in the states and missing plenty of workouts. It worked out to about 9 days off but I started up again two days ago. I went to the gym and just destroyed my hips and lower back with excess work and feeling it today.

My new nephew is beautiful and healthy and this is the time of the year for family - no matter how disfunctional - so go enjoy them!

-SK

The holiday travel has me a bit screwed up, but I made it through x-mas with no carbs. Then, the day after I began a 36 hour carb up - not my intention, but the holiday magic caught up with me.

Yesterday (after 1/2 day of carbs) I went to the gym and hit heavy back and front squats and shoulder presses. The weight felt light - very light. Today I’m off for a 10k run so let’s see how that goes. I am super thirsty though!

-SK

That run sucked ass!

Maybe I’m not used to the rolling hills of the Appalachians, but I felt like I was dragging a tire - a really big one!

You made it through christmas with no carbs? I ate cookies for every meal. Good to see you got at least one CHO up in :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

merry christmas and have fun on new years.

Yeah Chris, you know how I made it through? My Aunt usually hosts some kind of holiday party on both days and it just makes me sick to watch others stuff their faces full of sugar and crap and pass out.

So I tend to enjoy staying awake - albiet drunk and partying for the long haul. Whatever…

Happy New Year to you as well, bro.

Well I didn’t have much success over christmas staying away from carbs. Infact I don’t think im totally adapted to fat yet. The reason I think that is because I still crave sugar sometimes. It comes and goes… but god I hate eating carbs. I swear its like my body treats them like a drug or something… I get way tired when I eat them and then they also pack on fat, what else could be worse in a food?

I’ve been partying heavily the past few days as all my friends are back for the holidays, so from what that book said (the one i posted on the other thread), I havn’t been even remotely close to ketosis for the last week. But no worry’s, finished up today with no carbs and I’m hittin the gym here in a few minutes. Gonna be a leg day… next carbup planned is going to be January 13th! So hold me to it guys, and I’ll make it.

13JAN - any sooner we’ll all ignore you. Make sure you run a fast mile everyday, and after the workouts on those days to burn that shit out of you. Run outside the gym - on the pavement - leave the fucking treadmills to the housewives spinning their wheels.

Think pork and eggs and the sugar cravings will go away. Remember the basics - cram the fat…

Best of luck to all. Glad to see some experimentation. While I think the AD and NHE are superior (if you can avoid making the loads a junk-fest and dial in it’s duration to one’s individual needs)I think variations thereof that respect the general rationale are bound to have benefit.

Best,
DH
