Oh! I forgot this one:
I used to do graphic art for a BBing promotion company in the 80’s. Lee Haney guest posed at one of their shows and I met him there. Later, he called me when he was in the beginning stages of his TotaLee Awesome promo stuff (he discussed me designing a logo for him). His accent was so thick to me back then, I struggled to understand him! We spoke on the phone several times about the logo design, but he later ended up going with another artist… and I didn’t think that artist did a good job.
LOL @ “accent”. The guy is American. Coleman has a stronger “accent” than Haney.
Do you mean “slang”?
No, I mean “accent” as in Southern accent. He spoke proper English and used no slang. Twang, yes. Slang, no. lol
I was only 21 or 22 when I spoke to him, and I barely ever heard a Southerner speak before that. I had never traveled below the Mason/Dixon Line either, so my exposure to the south was non-existent.
Years later I heard Lee being interviewed and I noted to myself that he had “improved” his accent. I figured he had some vocal coaching. This was probably not the case though. I was probably just getting accustomed to the southern drawl.
In any case, Lee was indeed a gentleman (emphasis on the word gentle).
When he took the stage in the small theater as guest poser, I was floored by his immense upper body. Although he had good legs, his upper body just filled the stage. Up to that time, I never saw anyone possessing so much mass.
