The job as “S” – Was that on Sesame Street? Did you apply for any other letters?

-got offered a job as S&C coach at university I attended. Took it.
-Fell into co-owning/taking over a pretty sweet private training studio thats been around for about 5 years. Love this. Train very little here, but do a lot of work “on” the business.
-Boss at old gym from way back when calls my clients (that she knows about somehow) and told them that they should stop training at my facility because I signed a non compete.(she KNOWS this is not true)
-Called to address issue. She says “Its just business. I didnt tell them anything concrete. I just said you might have.”

Surely this is illegal, right? Slander? I dont know. Anyone with experience here?[/quote]

No, I think it’s just that you’re an asshole.

What do you do about bruises and cuts when trying to look sexay? I’ve got a gash on my leg, and various brusies. Just pretend they aren’t there? Attempt some sort of cover up?

LOL.

For real – talk to lawyer.

I’ve dealt with people pulling the ‘no compete’ stuff. I develop software, so there’s a few things going on: Intellectual property, the actual code sometimes, and competition. I signed a no-compete clause for my current company, but I’ve found out it’s not absolute.

Cirmcumstances should be considered, etc. A colleague of mine recently left this company to go work for our biggest competitor in our market, doing the same type of work, and the company didn’t pursue it.

If you feel like this person is affecting your livlihood, you may have a case.

It’s a great thing, we have a strong case and I’ll have a reported case with my name on it, that other folks will cite for generations to come. Win or lose, too, lol.

Dash, sounds like you’ve got defamation/slander on your hands. The following bits of info are for info only and we aren’t atty client, and I can only speak from the perspective of Colorado law.

When the subject of the defamation is something like your work, you can get damages without having to prove specific damages (that is, you don’t have to SHOW that you lost clients because of this twat - damages are presumed). In this situation, if your clients would be willing to be witnesses, you’d be golden in a suit.

Of course, you don’t want to get to that point, right? You just want her to stfu. Send a stern cease and desist and threaten litigation. If she doesn’t stfu, consider filing suit.

Also, Derek, not sure if you watch Tosh.0. He is wearing college stuff for every show this season, and wore texas on Tuesday. He said “Welcome to Tosh.0, this is the highlight of texas’ season.” And then he threw the down horns at the end. Awesome.

PMPM—ah! Perfect. Will do! It’s a VEEERY strange situation considering how long I have actually not worked there and such. Thanks for the advice. Will follow!

Patchy—ooonly sometimes. Most of the time I’m just a complainer.

Love Tosh, we got a couple new DVR’s for the house and I forgot to set up to record the season, have to catch the replay’s.

OU still sucks.

Texas sucks.

OU sucks.

Go Virginia Tech!!!

PMPM is spot on. Heed her knowledge, Dash.

Derek, I’d forgotten about that argument. I just hate when people place limits on themselves.

It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you actually try.
