So, if I was under the impression that the casino ownership isn’t that stupid, I received confirmation of it today. We had a high roller who used to come in and drop an average of $10K in tips for the dealers, whether he won or lost. Well, one day he lost roughly $60K and asked to have his $10 valet charge comped. The casino refused and made him pay his $10 valet charge. After that, he decided to give us one more chance and asked if we could have a limo pick up one of his friends (who is also a high roller and would frequent our casino when he came to Philly on business) at the airport. The casino refused. So now the high roller does not come to the casino anymore and he has told his other high roller friends to not come here as well.

And the funny thing is, management (if they are anything like everywhere I’ve ever worked) won’t ever learn. Because if it looks good to them on paper, it’s fucking brilliant.

Well, the upper management is being replaced, it’s the ownership now that is the problem. The two British guys are awesome, the Armenian, who owns 82%, is the problem. He won’t stop interfering. He wants to make the employee cafeteria a profit center. He needs to realize running a real business is different than running a racecourse. He needs to step back and let the experts do their jobs. You can’t keep hiring people at full time and then two weeks into training tell them they’re only part time and that they will NEVER become full time or that they will ONLY get full time if they switch shifts. You can’t say people are going to get paid holidays and then change it to “paid holidays IF you work that day”. You can’t give people paid vacations at $4.25 an hour. That is NOT a paid vacation! Most people now don’t want to take vacations because they’d be losing money. There’s a bunch of other stuff, but I think you get the idea…
