My end goal is to be bigger AND leaner than I am right now. I’ve already put on 50lbs and a non-trivial amount of that has collected around my bulbous midsection. I know I need a halfway decent muscle base before I cut down, but I am ready to actually look good naked before I continue to bulk.

“Need” is such a relative term. I don’t NEED to lift but I’m sure as fuck going to.
Honestly, a lot of it is sheer practicality. I want to be bigger and stronger but I physically can not shove any more food in my mouth right now without resorting to daily mcdonalds or ghrp6. If I drop my weight a bit and reduce my calorie needs I can get back to gaining.
I keep a weight log that I sometimes slack at updating, but I reached 220 a long ass time ago and it’s crazy I haven’t been able to hit 230 yet.

I’m 2-3" shorter than you…
It took me awhile to break 240 from 220, and it took a fuck ton of food to hit 260.
I’m back to 240, leaner than before, and looking to maintain that weight for the foreseeable future, unless one of two things happen:
I get over myself and actually diet down. (COuple factors hindering this)
I keep gaining on 2,500-3,000 cals a day, LOL!
EDIT: my point is, gaining gets harder, and you typically will have to get “uncomfortable” to break a weight sticking point. I would have never thought at 220 that I would be able to maintain 240 on 3k or less a day.
