I am not doing that. You obviously know what you’re doing, I mean, look at your progress so far. I really doubt you need a trainer at this point even. You’re highly motivated and that is what’s importatnt…especially with this trial and error game we’re in.

I tend to think most people are better off without a trainer anyhow. Unless you’re being coached for a competition of some sort, then having a professional guide you along seems like a good idea.
I could be wrong but it seems to me that people are better off getting the concepts right and wrong themselves.
Anyone agree or disagree?
I tI toyally agree. Trial and error is the only way to go in my opinion. It’s the reason I fired my trainer and stopped training with my dad. I was getting too fixed in the oly lifting train of thought…when bbing was an idea budding in the back of my head. If I still had a trainer I’d still have a sick set of traps but little delt. lol
I’m moving away from the general population and focusing soley on developing athletes now…specifically starting mobilty sessions at my high school for my old Athletic coordinator…because too many high school athletes waste potential on being strong and not on being able to move.
I hate to say it but for the most part PT’s are worthless. lol
Yeah Mim, it seems becoming a teacher can be a long and arduous road. But a worthwhile journey in the end hopefully. Seems there are many hoops that they make you jump through thoughout as well, but understandably so regarding who you would be working with.
But i say go for it, especially if you have the passion and motivation to do all the work to get there.
Lot’s of paperwork, applications, teacher recommendations, and background checks. At least in my school/state. I particularly hate asking other people for things, so i find it hard to ask teachers for favors above and beyond what is course related.
But like i said, if you are motivated and passionate enough, go for it.

Sounds like alot of work. I think I am going to become a gypsy.
I took my daughter to the gym today and tried to show her a few machines and I was getting pissed by her lack of attention to detail. I guess I should be happy that she even wants to go in the first place.

yeah, I’m counting the days till my little man is old enough. Shit I’ll let him just bench and curl if it gets him interested. I’ll sneek some rows and legs in there after awhile.

IMO, Cosgrove’s New Rules of Lifting (for Women) is probably money better spent for 80?% of gym-goers than getting a less-than-ideal Personal Trainer (esp the ones who are “certified experts” that have a different goal for you than YOU have for you.)
NROL is pretty vanilla, but the important fundamentals are there. Plus women are encouraged to do the “money lifts” deadlifts, barbell rows, etc, and I think he explains why natural women don’t have to worry about looking like Ronnie or Arnold.
I have the book Ducky. Greeny just got it. I think it’s a great book for the reasons you pointed out. Deads, squats, rows. Not a pink barbell in sight!
I like my ass, I just wish there was less stuff around it.
I did OH squats with out falling over today. Granted only with the 18lb body bar. Does it matter how wide my stance is? My feet are really far apart, but closer and I can’t keep neutral spine. Are there negatives to really wide? I need to do some research.
