I tend to think most people are better off without a trainer anyhow. Unless you’re being coached for a competition of some sort, then having a professional guide you along seems like a good idea.

I could be wrong but it seems to me that people are better off getting the concepts right and wrong themselves.

Anyone agree or disagree?
I think a lot of women would benefit from starting with a coach or “trainer” that is going to have you do the basic compounds over the stupid shit I see them putting people through. I feel like this will go a long way to help them warm up to the free weight section.

Men and boys, if they can’t sack up enough to figure out the basics on their own, fuck em… Thins the herd.
I tend to agree. But, i’d also think that women would benefit more from a female trainer, since womens bodies are touchier when it comes to food and hormone fluctuations. re: period.
Good point…
I tend to think that part of the reason women are so useless in the gym is because we expect them to be and they don’t take charge of the situation and figure stuff out because they can always lean on a boyfriend or trainer to hold their hand. And then they don’t ‘own’ their results and they don’t do it for themselves. There is no biological reason why a guy would be more apt to figure out a compound movement over a woman so why would there be a lowered expectation?

There you go, now where are your clones?

I know clones don’t have the same personalities, but you know what I mean.

Oh, I think they would, it would just be a different sort of work out. More cardio and flexibility.

So your saying you can hit a 3 rep bench PR when Aunt Flow is in town?

I’m watching America’s Funniest Home videos and it’s actually making me LOL. They just showed the dog growling at his own foot.

No I’m saying you don’t need a trainer to tell you Aunt Flo makes you suck :stuck_out_tongue: I mean it’s kind of obvious.

No she’s saying that being female isn’t an excuse to not have to go look it up for yourself. You’re telling me that most male trainers know anything about constructing a program around hormonal fluctuations? Most trainers can’t even teach good DL form. Being female isn’t an excuse to be spoon fed. Also, most women will take a trainers word as the word of god and not question it, no one should ever do that. You should know why you’re doing what your doing.

so, i had to check email for some approvals, and I check T-Nation only to see that not only is there a new TK thread, but I have to spend most of monday morning running back 9 pages, in addition to having to check 13 to make sure that I haven’t missed anything.

jeesh!

Ya’all sure keep me busy!

btw…Hai Polo, Deb, pch2, Beans and Atty - and TOOTS! you freak!
ya’all sleep good, talk to you in the morning.

C-Ya!

Well, happy arguing, night freaks (not just toots, you’re all freaks and weirdos!)

Most men suck. I will be blunt. It is hard to find someone who is willing to not be a total doucher.

Compromise and sharing is hard, and most men say fuck that and look for the picture perfect penthouse letter girl that will take it in the pooper, let you bust one in her mouth after and go ake you a sammich while you nap. Clean the house, do your laundry and be your mom figure that you get to violate in bed…

There are plenty of dudes who are willing to live in the real world, but most want ^

Oh - before I leave…

That is not a happy note to end the night on. Most men suck? Aren’t you supposed to be standing up for your gender? ATM is gross by the way.

I am frequently the odd girl who eats weird, it’s okay.
It just makes the prospect of dating weird too. I think I have a date on Thursday. How long until I tell him about BJJ? Lifting? That I eat like a freak? You know, that’s why it’s easy to stay w/in my friends, but dating them doesn’t actually work.

Your husband doesn’t train does he? Does he think you’re weird? I’m reading RBlue log, and her BF thinks she’s getting too big. How are you supposed to achieve that balance?
Holy shit.

I always thought of “weird” as being a good thing and it annoys me when someone wishes they were more “normal”. I prefer “unique” anyway.

Any guy who sees these quirks as a bad thing, is more than likely a boring fuck to begin with.
Yeah. I’ve always been an oddball and have trouble relating to people on common experiences since I don’t seem to have any :stuck_out_tongue: So I’ve learned to embrace my ‘individuality’ and see it as a quality not a deficit.

I used to be afraid to share tales from my experiences because I didn’t want to draw attention to myself but I’ve learned people are interested in those things that make everyone different and it ends up people get a real kick of the stories I tell about my family of freaks.

I’m still a bit reserved around new people but the point is weird is not necessarily a bad thing and if you are weird and someone thinks it is, then better to know sooner rather than later.

When getting to know a guy I’ve always been up front about my personality ‘defects’ (I don’t really see it that way  ) but it was very necessary because my appearance seemed to attract guys looking for someone a lot more submissive, feminine and traditionally girly which I have never been.

IME it is pretty demoralizing to find a guy and get into him only to find that despite liking your looks he wishes you were someone else and tries to convince you’re wrong the way you are.
How long did it take for you to have this attitude?

I could never understand why people would want to change the very things that many times attracted you to that person to begin with.

They want you to look good, but have problems with HOW you get there. Like what PMPM was saying earlier… I guess if people don’t “get it” then it must be wrong. Pure garbage.

okay, I get it. And I really like that you guys feel that way. It is pretty cool.

So why are so many chicks afraid of the free weight section?

You know, if there is a lady on the DB benches next to me, and I know the next set is going to be a grunting, spit flying out of my mouth, tough set, I’ll wait till she leaves.

Then again, I’ve had one MILF move from one bench to the one next to me, in order to get away from the teenagers at the other end, while spit was flying up in the air and landing back on my face.

Still DTF and I missed ya!

So I just found out a guy I’ve been on a few dates with is married. He never told me. I was catching up with a good guy friend of mine and told him I’d been out with this dude. His response was “You know he’s married right?”

I’m seeing married guy tomorrow (he’s in our part-time masters program). What do I say?
