Ever Been Hypnotised...?

A while back I was at a Keith Barry show(Asylum) where he hypnotised several people on stage. He took random volunteers from the audience(I was going to give it a go but lost my stones at the last second). Chatting to the people after the show they said it was a strange experience because they knew what they were doing but it seemed to make perfect sense at the time.

He got them to do the usual things like get really hot and really cold, thinking they were on a roller-coaster, playing in a band etc and some not-so-usual stuff like getting stoned, thinking that Keith himself had a 16 dick hanging out of his pants, performing their ultimate sexual fantasy and finishing off with climaxing(the show sounds dirtier than it was but he did warn that the second half of the show wasn’t suitable for kids). Needless to say, I was in absolute tears of laughter watching it but glad I didn’t go up 'cos I didn’t feel like performing my ultimate sexual fantasy in front of my sister and her boyfriend.

So I was wondering, anybody ever been hypnotised? Or does anybody here actually practice it? What were your experiences? Did you regret it etc…?

I will never willingly let someone take control of me like that, I don’t trust people enough.

Been to a few shows, it is entertaining.

Awwwww what a sweetheart!

Yes. I was hypnotised at a show, and at no point did I feel that I wasn’t in control. I happily went along with all of the hypnotist’s suggestions, which included saving ET and taking him back to his mothership, fingering someone, eating shit etc.

However, half way through I just realisd that I looked like a prick and refused to take his next suggestion. I have no idea whether I was hypnotised or not, and whether it was the pressure of the situation that made me do the things he wanted me to, because I didn’t want him to be embarassed or fail.

Who knows, but the point is that I did stupid shit on stage which I wouldn’t always be up for doing … so I guess it works.

It is only the power of suggestion - they can’t make you do shit that you’d definitely avoid (e.g. go murder that man)

Its my understanding that some people are more suggestible than others. These people are called ‘fox news viewership’

Myself and 3 of my friends were all hypnotized at a show and none of us, along with any of the people we spoke to later, were under any kind of spell or didnt know what we were doing the whole time.

As an amateur magician I can tell you guys its all quite well known in the magic community that “hyp shows” are simply a charismatic performer who knows how to pick people who will not ruin his show. At the start of the show they bring up 20-30 people and then whittle it down to 10 or so who they see are playing along the best.

I can say with almost absolute certainty and Stage Hypnotism is pure fiction.

Clinical hypnotism may be an entirely different story, but I dont know anything about it.

Interesting. This is exactly what he did. But from memory, he never said that he was in complete control. And he did stress several times throughout the show the power of suggestion. In fact, the first half of the show was entirely dedicated to the power of suggestion.

However, I’d imagine it would take quite a person to convince 6 men to act out their ultimate fantasy and to get 5 women to orgasm on stage(including one who admitted her parents were in the audience).

Did you ever think at any stage that you were not completely awakened after the process had finished? That would be my biggest concern.

I’ve heard of hypotism or hypnotherapy (which I take to be similar) used for therapy and dealing with traumatic situations etc. So if they work to help “heal” people then that’s a good thing - but still the thought of the “suggestion” and how long it stays within one’s subconscious troubles me. I see hypnotism also carries over to forms of advertising, sales writing etc.

the subconscious is nothing to fuck with.

after reading the book, Journey of Souls, I became very curious of being hypnotized and regressed to the spiritual lives between lives
