Hey Roy could not find this on netflix stream, guess have to get the disc.
Yeah. I didn’t stream it it. Worth the wait.
Yea it says long wait

Try the director’s previous movie Anything for Her - it’s been remade as The Next Three Days with Russell Crowe and Liam Neeson…
watched Red State yesterday. It was definitely good, well worth the watch and I was interested the whole time. However, the whole time I was thinking that it could have been better. Way better. Did anyone else think this? Like they could have added 30 more minutes of awesome scenes.
spoiler
I also thought some parts of Red State were stupid/unrealistic, particularly with how the ATF dealt with the situation. The mandate by Goodman’s superior officer was stupid… they don’t just go in and kill everyone (including the children). An agent would have took that girl into custody (the first time) when she came running out screaming about the children, and the second time that girl steps outside (with the hostage kid), they would not have been just shot in the head like that.

I don’t thihk it was meant to be realistic. It was obvious (especially in the last scene with Goodman and the two agents) that Smith was making a social critique about government/police abuse of power.

getting Anything for Her right now. roybot you rec some good movies man. keep 'em coming.
Thanks. I’ve been on a French movie kick lately. They’ve produced some really good thrillers over the last few years - this is the one that started it for me:
Just saw ‘Prisoner of the Mountains’ with Sergei Bodrev, jr (the guy from Brother & Brother II). Interesting film based on a Tolstoy story but set with modern Russian soldiers in Dagestan. I get a kick out of war stories from various countries, to see both common threads/fears/ideals, and differences. Worth Netflixing. I don’t think it’s streamable.

I agree with this.
Also, Smith had but a shoestring budget to get this thing made. He said in a podcast that the farm scenes were sharing property with the massive sets for “Super 8” being filmed at the same time.
I agree too that the movie could have been much much more than it was, and I did myself a disservice by listening to Kevin Smiths’ podcasts and all the fanboy praise of this film before I saw it. It was kind of a let down in the end. He did all of his own editing the same night he’d film new scenes, his goal was to have a watchable feature completed by the wrap party. That’s insane and commendable, but content-wise there was a ton more he could have done had he a bigger budget.
Not funny, not even close to being funny. All the jokes thudded like raw hamburger on a countertop. I like Jason Sudekis, I think he’s a funny guy, and Owen Wilson can be serviceable as long as the words written for him are good.
But this movie isn’t. It’s just lewd and very poorly written. Farrely brothers usually have a lot of sight-gags in their films, the only sight gag in this one was a black guys’ weiner in comparison to a white guys.
ok so I saw The Thing (2011)… it wasn’t nearly as good as the original, not even close. It wasn’t a terribly bad remake either. It was average overall, but there were many parts where I was just bored… sometimes it took awhile to develop the next scene. It also did a terrible job at making you guess who the next victim/Thing was, which is half the fun.

Shit now I will have to watch it just to see if I agree with you.

Don’t lie Deej, I said “black guys’ weiner” and everything south of your bellybutton went all tingly at the prospect of seeing it in HD. hahaha

Man looking at the trailer I thought it would be decent with the cast of actors.

Pulling the Deon Sanders quote NICE.
I watched The Grinch who stole Christmas with Jim Carrey and last night we watched Elf.
Tonight probably watch N Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation that time of year and these are all our fav’s.
