Even More Movies You've Watched This Week II

Also, I should rephrase what I said earlier. It’s not actually that I didn’t think Reeves could pull off “badass” (Utah, gimme two!), it’s that I feel like EVERYBODY’s getting a turn to play tough guy lately (Neeson, Costner, etc…) that I just figured JW would be shittier Taken knockoff. Couldn’t have been further from the truth.
I completely agree. It’s like the new Sean Penn movie I keep seeing previews for. I just don’t buy Penn as some badass mercenary or whatever he’s supposed to be or Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher; alhtough, I did enjoy the Reacher movie.

Haven’t even heard of the Penn movie. For the most part, if I don’t think you’ve ever even punched or been punched in the face in real life, I can’t take you seriously as a tough guy. Like that movie Drive. The movie wasn’t terrible, but when your two badasses are Ryan Gosling and Albert Brooks, you lost me.

Not sure but i think penn got a statue for playing a bad ass in mystic river… also hes played bad asses b4 plenty of times…casulties of war, colors, & recently gangster squad. Just cuz he went full retard once dont make him a puss. Gunmans got a solid cast & is made by the dude that did the taken franchise…should be solid imo

Watched that Hercules movie with the Rock.

Meh, pretty much what I expected. Some reasonably entertaining fight scenes.

I’m a big fan of The Rock, but that movie was really disappointing. Cool concept for the character, and he certainly looked the part, but everything else about it was pretty bad.

Foxcatcher last night. Once again disappointed. The scenes with Tatum {sp?} and Carell reminded me of the start of a SNL skit. Very flat movie. Sucks because the whole story itself was pretty amazing.

Gotta say, either im just being overly negative about lots of the movies that were made last year or it really just was a shitty year for movies.

I didn’t understand Birdman at all. Given I have the IQ of a pebble, but still, to me it just seemed like another try hard artsy flick and i love Michael K.

I’m gonna see Whiplash at some point this week. I really hope its good.

Wrote a couple of pages back that I couldn’t get into Foxcatcher at all. Good actors, great source material, less than mediocre flick. Movie was ultimately kind of pointless. Whiplash, on the other hand, was fantastic. Of the other movies from last year that I’ve seen recently and really enjoyed I thought TMNT, The Rover and John Wick were all great. There’s probably more but gotta run.
Ya, JW was pretty boss. Saw Chappie. Good flick. the end got a little crazy.

Mystic River is great if not incredibly depressing, he was the sidekick through 90% of Colors, never saw CoW and Gangster Squad was fucking awful. The first Taken was pretty cool but the sequel looked about as silly as it gets.

Hahaha, didn’t mean Penn specifically. He also kidnapped Madonna, tied her up and repeatedly beat her when they were married if I’m not mistaken.

That’s the dude that did District 9 and Oblivion, right? Not really sure how I feel about his movies. Also, completely forgot to mention Guardians of the Galaxy. Might be my favorite Marvel flick.

Yeah. Neill Blomkamp is the directors name. District 9 and i think you’re just confusing Elysium with Oblivion. He did the former also. I like his style for sure. D9 was alot better than Chappie. There was a movie made in the 80s called Robot Jox. I think he would make a killer remake of a movie like that.

One things for sure. I never want to visit Johannesburg. Ever…

Just saw. Blomlamp working on the new Alien movie. What is that, number 7?

Yes, but she liked it…or she forgot the safe word.

He’s nearly as ripped as Madonna in this.

It Follows - somebody must’ve smelted the '80s 'cos this movie is coated in it. Despite an excellent premise, it is to horror films what Drive is to action movies. Steeped in nostalgia, but lacks that signature luridness of the decade they pay homage to.

Ditto The Guest.

Elysium, that’s it. Not sure how I came up with Oblivion. Chappie doesn’t look bad, it just kind of looks like Short Circuit with guns. Watching #5 fake die once was hard enough.

Hmm. Not sure how I feel about him doing the new Aliens.

Blomkamp is making the Alien sequel, this is not affiliated with Prometheus. Also confirmed, Corporal Hicks (Michael Biehn) will return for the movie.

Concept art for the film can be seen here…

Fuck the Divergent sequel. FUCK!

Get Hard was funny. Exactly what you’d expect it to be, though, from the commercials and the two leads.

We’re the Millers - funnier than I expected, worth a view if you get the chance.

8 Below - if you’re a dog lover, stay away from this. It will eat at your guts.

Chappie was just OK. Jackman was underused and the movie seemed to exist only to promote Die Antwoord.
