Even More Movies You've Watched This Week II

These Final Hours

Australian movie about the end of the world, and the final hours leading up to it. Begs the question “How would you spend your last 12 hours on Earth?”

I really liked this movie. Reasonably good performances from the Aussie cast (whose names I do not know), intriguing concept, and well-written screenplay.

How did you watch it? Red box/Netflix what sir?

Looks good… but Netflix doesn’t have it. Grrrrr…

Xbox video. Amazon has it too.

Cool, thanks

Couple from this week:

New World - Korean movie about the mob and an undercover cop. If you liked the Departed and the original Internal Affairs you’ll love this. Streaming on Netflix.

Housebound - Flick from New Zealand about a young woman who is forced to move back in with her parents under house arrest. Kind of a thriller/dark comedy. I thought is was really funny. Streaming on Netflix.

Bronson - English flick about the notorious criminal Charles Bronson {played by Tom Hardy}. I don’t usually go for biopics but this was really good. Streaming on Netflix.

Going to watch either Shadow Dancer or 13 Sins tonight. Not sure which.

The short story is one of the more disturbing stories I’ve read, give it a read if you haven’t already.

I just read it. I forgot just how good Stephen King is; I haven’t read anything by him in 20 years.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Np. It’s probably my top 5 favorite work from King, and I’m a big fan of him.

I always felt that he does best with short stories. None of his tendency to ramble on, but gives him just enough space to go wild with his imagination + the characters that just seem alive.

Honestly, I like King because, at his best, he writes characters that seem alive. Very few authors seem to do that.

My recent favorite stories from his are 1922 and A Good Marriage. I think both are excellent novellas.

Oh, and Doctor Sleep.

I haven’t been following this thread for a while, but I’d throw John Wick out there. Great fight scenes and a lot of good old American violence. Give it a try even if you don’t like Keanu.

Thanks for that link. Did y’all hear that “IT” is getting made into a two part feature film? Cary Fukunaga (True Detective) is directing.

Just watched it this past weekend and enjoyed it a lot. Good old American violence is a great way to put it.

John wicks pretty good seemed like keuna trained some jitz for movie… Also just watched chappie thought it was pretty good although i was super baked. I still stand behind it reviews did suck from nerds. Action is solid and those robots look real as fuck.

Hearts in Atlantis would be my fav. Both novellas and short stories.

And The Jaunt still makes my skin crawl when I think about it lol. “Its eternity in there!”

The Jaunt scared the fuck out of me. I loved reading and rereading Skeleton Crew when I was a kid. Especially, The Raft and Survivor Type.

That was great. Keep tossing out the short story suggestions. King did one called Night Flyer that I read at least fifteen years ago that was pretty good.

Yeah same here haha. The type of horror in The Raft stays with you for very a long time.

The Ledge from Night Shift.

The movie Cat’s Eye had a great on screen adaptation.

The Mist from Skeleton Crew.

Not one of my favourites but the movie version was fantastic.

Just read ‘The Jaunt’ for the first time. Thanks for the recommendation. That was awesome!

Watched Maze Runner. To be honest I really enjoyed it, great concept for the end. [/quote]

Watched it, surprisingly good all the way through. Looking forward to next installment.

A short story. It took me a bit to understand what was happening and to acclimate to the rhythm of the writing.
