Even Breathing Feels All Right

Uhm… add gloves to add total? :stuck_out_tongue:

I more than likely weigh a lot more than you though.
my cocker spaniel weighs more than she does, as well.

Sparring was awesome yesterday. Lots of drills and kicks. Sensei did a nice drill where he blew the whistle and we changed which partner was attacking and which partner was responding only with footwork.

Then, I skipped out on curriculum class. Why, I don’t know. I just wanted to be home. So I’ve decided to change the way I account for classes, not to inflate my numbers, but to encourage myself by giving myself credit for both classes.

Did I ever mention I am obsessive about quantifying?

TKD classes: 9 vs goal of 100.

Today is squats and bench. I’m going to add those smith machine rows too.

Happy lifting to you all!

1/19/11
Squat 3x5 90 (69% 1RM 78% bw) felt good.
Bench 5x5 80 (80% 1RM 70% bw) < ready for 85 next week
dbRow 1x5 45
horizontal rows, bw 1x10, 1x5

I had a funny experience on the last rep of the bench sets. I got a cramp in my left hamstring. I guess the bench is a whole body lift.

We havent sparred in so long :frowning: I am very jealous! I LOVE to spar and we dont often get it in our Dojo. It makes it hard to go sometimes when it always the usual repetitiveness…For like 2 years now I have been toying with trying another art but I have yet to get around to it, lol!

Nice lifting girl!!

Ohh leg drive! Lucky you. I felt that once, I think…

Nice benching and squatting!

What does your log title mean?

Looks like you are steadily progressing. Did the program you are following dictate that you start at a certain percentage of your 1 RM? Just curious why you started where you did.

Lemme know when you want to get together. Especially if you’re planning to do a meet. I can help!

I really missed the Thai boxing class where I got to spar with guys. (I was the only woman). They didn’t like hitting me at first, but they soon learned the error of their ways.

My local gym started one up a couple of years back but there was no sparring and I soon got bored and quit.

Um, and nice lifting. That goes without saying.

Coyote and Cal, I’ll be glad to keep telling you about my sparring. I really enjoy the drills and I need the motion. I just don’t jump around on my own initiative. We have dedicated sparring classes Tu/Th open to all and Saturday from 10-12 just for the sparring team. Cal, I had so much trouble kicking other people when I started. It was much harder than being kicked! I suspect you did not have that problem.

Kimba, it’s from a song by Alexi Murdock but it really refers to my daily body check-in. It’s probably an old person thing, but I mentally check my whole body every morning. How do my arms feel, my back, my feet, my lungs, my head, any injuries, pain… when I’m getting the whole exercise and nutrition package right, I can feel it. “Even breathing feels all right.”

Snap, I picked weights I thought I could do 5x5 for a least a few sessions based on my previous 5RM. Except the squat which I set very low, at about 60%. The reason for that was my sucky form and the fact that I have to walk out of my rack because the rails are too high. I’m also squatting every workout right now and working the form and it feels really good. For some reason right now I just need a lot of reps on that lift.

I’d love to get together with you. Maybe next week.

Tomorrow I am off to the mountains for the weekend because it is my birthday. Happy lifting y’all.

Thanks for the explanation. Checking the body parts out every AM is a damn fine idea.

The happiest of birthday wishes to you!

Happy birthday Spider-lady!

Happy Birthday! Enjoy.

Bonne Fete ma Chere!

Happy birthday. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Happy birthday - enjoy the mountains!

Happy Birthday!

I guess I’m the only one whose callouses affect my lifting.
Then again my workouts are longer than most here so that’s probably why.
Our gym has brand new weights so the knurling isn’t worn at all, it makes gripping hurt a lot after a while. Maybe it’s a measure of wear?

I mentally check my whole body every morning. How do my arms feel, my back, my feet, my lungs, my head, any injuries, pain… when I’m getting the whole exercise and nutrition package right, I can feel it. “Even breathing feels all right.”

I really like that.

Happy birthday.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, everybody! We went to the mountains and snowboarded on Sunday. I got the Lego Spinjitzu Dojo and Dance Dance Revolution for wii for my birthday. My family is awesome.

Breathing did not feel all right this morning. Probably from carrying little kids up the bunny slope with their snowboards, my torso, quads, and biceps were all sore. This irritated me. How much do I have to work out before I can snowboard and haul stuff around without getting sore? Hmmph.

Today’s workout out was a mixed bag of totally awesome and wimpy. To wit:

I felt like seeing where my chinup 1RM was at:
Chinups: 1x1 bw (118) +10 +12 +15 +20 +25 and +30 for 148 total. boo-fucking-yah! That’s not only the biggest dumbbell I’ve held between my feet and a new 1 RM, but it’s also spitting distance from my year’s goal of 150 lb.

Overhead press 4x5, 1x3 at 60 lbs. (yay)

Deadlift 1x1 1x1 180 lbs. Despite pulling 175 for five reps last week, I could NOT pull a second rep without significant rest.

I finished by phoning in 2x5 at 90 on squats and called it a day.

Happy lifting!

pch, maybe so. The weights in the hovel where I work out are several decades old at least.

alexus, thanks!

Those chinups are MONSTROUS! You remind me that I need to be training these much harder.

I phoned in my squats yesterday too. We’ll get 'em next time.
