Escalating Density Training - Clarification

Hi. I’m hoping somebody might be able to answer a question to clarify the program for me. I just started doing EDT yesterday and am a bit confused. I know this may sound like a dumb question, so forgive me in advance if it does… I know the goal is to do as many reps as possible in twenty minutes, with the expectation that you will increase the number of total reps with every following workout. Got that. However, the program also has you doing more poundage (and therefore less reps)with each successive set during the twenty minute period…until you’re almost down to a single rep. So, if you are adding weights for each set, do you stick with that same weight pyramid the next time you do that workout, but just try pumping out more reps this time? Or should you be adding MORE weights IN ADDITION to pumping out MORE REPS? Does any of this make any sense? Thanks to anybody who can clarify this for me.

You’re supposed to keep the weight constant on all work sets

Find your 10 rep max for each exercise. Keep the weight constant for each set. Do not do the sets to failure, leave one or two in the hole each set until you get down to only being able to eke out 1 or 2. Once you achieve 60 total reps per 20 minute time frame for an exercise you need to up the weight. This is how I do it, but you should re-read the “Procedure” section at the bottom of the EDT article to get a clearer idea.

Right. Keep the weight constant, and after a few sets your reps will drop simply due to fatigue.

THEN, if over the course of a couple weeks your reps increase too much, you increase the weights to a new standard.
