Enough With the Logs

         Well, jesus H christ....

People let’s take a chill pill here. Yes I agree there are some obnoxiously boring, stupid, innane, retarded, repetitive, and downright ridiculous logs out there.

There are also, decent, positive, informative, logs as well. Yes in some there is a fine line between the two. That depends on the person reading said log’s perspective obviously.

I post logs, and have one running now on the effects of a low dose short cycle of test/mast, and how it's assisting my delt rehab, and how it is working in accordance with a routine my good friend Schwarzenegger designed for my improvised training around the delt rehab.

I realized long ago, that no matter how hard you try, your log is going to irritate the dog piss out of some people, and it's going to motivate and interest others. Occassionaly I'll make a comment about my own log if I think I'm going on too much about one thing or another that might be boring, tedious, or just plain irritating to someone else. I like to think that I have somewhat refined the way I log shit to where I don't feel that any of it is too stupid to be represented publicly.

I was wondering why my good friend Contrl hasn't stopped by my log, or responded to my comments to him about such progress as I've been making during this shorty recently. Now I know the answer to that. I respect his opinion, and it doesn't affect my friendship with him. One has to expect this from other people. That's ok with me. We're all different, and the level to which something like a log, "bugs" us, is controlled solely by ourselves and there's nothing else to say about it basicly.

Professor X has a valid point about the blogs, and I've gone that route before too, during a DC period of training. I had some close friends stopping by to comment, but as Scott was saying, frequently a person who has limited time to fool around on the "net", will very likely miss it or forget it's there, when it's on a blog under the profile. When it's "in your face", then it's much easier to see and add something to, if a person so desires. So, it just comes back to what an individual does with his or her little fingers...click on the mother fucker, or don't. It's that simple folks. No headache necessary, no stress, simply ignore it and scroll down to something of interest and put on a happy face.

                    cheers!

These are specifically the logs I was referring to, TBN.

…while these are the ones I’m sure few people have a problem with.

An example of a log which is not a waste of bandwidth.

It’s actually because anything I think of saying, someone says it before I do. And any input I might contribute would only revert the broader purpose of your goals. In my opinion, it’s best choosing 1 method and sticking to it than juxtaposing dozens of opinions and getting mixed results.

But I do notice that it’s only the people who currently have logs that are defensive about this.

15 of the 25 threads on the front page of the Strength forum are logs, and only 3 or 4 of those 15 are logs that I would actually read.

I’m sorry, but I don’t think threads “logging” the progress of beginners is a practical use for the Strength forum. They’re just taking up way too much space.

I figured I might have read too much into this!

Thanks for clarifying so eloquently my friend. I can agree with this post in it’s entirety.

                  ToneBone

I have had a log here for comeing up on 2 years. It is by far one of the best decisions I have made as far as training. Pushed me to lift harder, pushed me to get stronger, pushed me to get bigger and get alot of great advice from people on the site.

If I used the blog in my profile, no one would be able to see it, I would have to make threads when I had a question, I wouldnt be as driven to get bigger/stronger because no one there would be expecting me to do my best.

I only read 3-4 logs on here, but the ones I read are all pretty good.

Having a training log shows that you actually fucking train…

I think certain posters just like to bitch and complain on this site.

This coming from someone who currently has a log in which he goes from “obese” to “morbidly obese.”

Grain of salt.[/quote]

You can think of me and my goals whatever you want I know I have came along way towards my goals since I started and still have a very long way to go and I will get there.

I still like Uber Newb think keeping a training log is one of the best decisions I have ever made. What I have learned and continue to learn from more experienced lifters through keeping a training log has been invaluable and if I just kept this in my blog I would never had gotten any of this advice.

You said ToneBone’s Log is not a waste of bandwith while others are. For some Tonebone’s log might not be informative for their goals so they won’t read it. Doesn’t mean its a waste of space, just like a training log that isn’t informative to you doesn’t mean it isn’t informative or entertaining to someone else.

I post in my thread like 4 days a week to post my lifts for the day. If you guys post other topics I will quickly be bumped out of the way. Who cares?
Don’t like it? I honestly couldn’t give a fuck.

After reading this thread I will probably be continuing my log in blog form.

I didn’t know there were so many winy bastards on these forums.

Relax…

Just because you don’t like the message does not mean it is wrong.

Awwww…Don’t lose hope. For every winey bastard there are a couple decent beer guys.

Damn…I guess we should have whined a long time ago, huh?

I highly recommend http://www.lifterlog.com

You can log all your workouts and post the link in your profile, add friends, view other people’s logs, all without wasting forum space.

a-frickin-men.

Except the guys whose logs I like. Damn this gets circular quick.

You mean you didn’t?

I don’t really care one way or another. On a related note and as usual this is just me, I do not get the whole blog deal. I’ve never read a blog and I don’t have a blog. I didn’t even notice until this thread that there was an option for blogs on this site. I’m not that interested in what anybody else has to say and can’t imagine why anything I’d say publicly would interest anybody enough to purposely visit what amounts to a text file of my thoughts.
