Enhancing the Flavor of Veggies

I’m curious what other folks use to either mask, or enhance, the flavor of veggies?? There’s not many veggies out there that I really enjoy, although the more I eat the more I seem to acquire a taste for them.

I do use Morton’s Nature’s Seasons though quite liberally on my salads and steamed broccoli, cauliflower, etc.

I’ve actually been using this stuff since I was a kid…my mom set it on the table one day and I was hooked on it from then on. I prolly go through a bottle or so every month.

Chili and Olive Oil.

Lately I’ve been using guacamole as a dip for my raw broccoli. Masks the taste pretty good.

Today I had some steamed brussel sprouts. I drizzled some olive oil on them and added some crushed garlic. Finally, I squeezed some lemon juice on top and put some cracked pepper too. Very good. Also, the fat in the oil helps with the absorption of the nutrients. So, if you’re going to be eating good fats like olive oil or avocado have them with your veggies.

steamed veggies: salt and pepper or Mrs. Dash Garlic and Herb
raw veggies: peanut butter (celery) or laughing cow

Spinach – tomato sauce and tabasco.

Misc spices.

Nothing in particular, sometimes I do a combination just to see how it tastes.

I get those bags of broccoli that you can just put right into the microwave. Bird’s Eye is the brand I think, 12 ounces.

Nuke the whole bag, dump on plate with chicken breast, then add mustard all over the broccoli. Makes it damn near edible.

You will still smell like cat shit though.

I steam my veggies while I cook my rice. I add a little bit of salt to the rice water so that it flavors the rice as it simmers and when the water evaporates, it flavors the veggies.

BTW, once you steam your veggies, you’ll never go back.

To be honest, the only thing i really ever use is black pepper. But i can eat veggies no prob plain. =/

steamed, or stir fired (water, some meat. and the veggies). I actually enjoy my Veggies man. Daym.

Must have something to do with J.Beradi’s article that just game out today.

garlic powder, onion powder, low sodium soy sauce, hot sauce, italian seasoning, drizzle of olive oil, fresh ground pepper, sea salt, melting fat free cheese on vegetables also.

stir frying vegetables is a nice alternative to steaming. i just use the microwave and a glass dish to steam.

Garlic, parm cheese, EVOO.

buckets of haberno tobasco is brilliant

Extra Virgin Olive Oil. It’s a term coined by Rachel Ray that my ex-gf used all that time. Pisses me off!

EVOO-extra virgin olive oil

Learn how to steam them just right. It brings out the natural flavor and you don’t need to add anything.
