Engine Overhaul

No ma’am. But, sometimes I do get discombobulated when the entire world dumps their problems on my doorstep. I let them take me down once. I swore to myself, never again! My mom and I talked about this the other day. In her words, “Don’t let ANYBODY, stop you. Quitting is only for pussies, and you ain’t no pussy!”

That’s all very rough.

I’ve felt the way you do about lifting myself, shit always gets in the way, and to tell you the truth, if I don’t go to the gym for awhile, I actually get anxiety about going?? Even now with this new gym & having to arrange a new plan of exercises, I get anxiety about going. Also my body was coming along too and now it’s kind of slowly reverting back, but have faith!

I’m not trying to whine (I’ll do that in my own log) but just to let you know that I believe getting discouraged and coming back to lifting is part of the normal process and you are not alone.

Sorry to hear about all the stress. It sounds like you’re in that lovely position of finding yourself wedged between kids, work, and helping elderly parents. I hope things calm down soon. Try to let lifting be your therapy. Don’t worry too much about it if you need to miss a day or two, or if you seem to be making really slow progress. None of those "off "weeks will matter in the overall scheme of things.

Thank you all. I am trying to pull my head out of my ass and get everything going again. I just got pissy.
They are just going to have to understand I am not responsible for everything. I am not a doctor, not a shrink, not techincal support, not a substance abuse conselor, not a marriage conselor. Thank God, the suicidal one skipped this round…lol

Thanks GV. One of these days I’ll get my head outta my ass. I just “liked” your post about you gaining a couple of pounds, or it could have been that pound of London Broil. Do you think the PA the reason?

I think the PA could be helping me be a little stronger and possibly the weight increase. I am doing twice the recommended dosage. Got it on Amazon. May be too early to tell if it’s PA, placebo, or just me finally coordinating diet, training, and work better.

Ended up driving way too far to help a lady today. She said, " the other place" not other county. Wow! That was seriously out in the sticks. Good thing I have gotten to love these peeps. Screwed up my happy thoughts of lifting tonite. That’s okay, just have to hit it hard in the morning.

That’s all she wrote. Woke up tired, went and worked for a few hours, still tired. Just don’t think I have eaten enough the last 2 days. Speaking of eating. My buddy asked me today why do I eat that rabbit food? (Spinach, with turkey breast and rice chex for croutons, ample amount of dressing) Now mind you, this is the meth head, who continually wears one of those back braces. I told him because rabbit food makes you strong. He laughed and said, “yeah right.” I laughed and said,“I am not the one wearing the back brace!” Then I asked him if he thought he could pull 190 off the ground? Crickets… Uh… turned and walked away. His brother and I agreed, nah, no way. Sometimes it’s the small victories. :grin:

MP went great, I had dropped them for a while because they kill my back. I know this is core/ hyperextension problem, so I am working on fixing it. Definitely helping but I have to REALLY have to concentrate on keeping things tight. This is the only thing that bothers my back. Unless I buttwink on squats, but I think I have that under control.

The BP on the hand, meh… things were just wonky! The weight didn’t feel heavy but everything went crooked. I was like WTF? Man, I have worked so hard to stop that shit. What the hell am I doing wrong? I need Dave! After digging myself out from under the 85, AGAIN! I was mad! After several reps/ sets I finally figured out it is something with my set up. It’s no-way-no. I put the bar back on the weeney bench and tah dah! No more crooked! I think the 85 would have went up much better than last time if I would have launched straight.

Hi Lady! Glad you are still sticking with it despite what seems like regular craziness in your work life.

Take a video from the side of a bench press rep around 85 to 90% of your 1rm and post it. If you aren’t comfortable posting it let me know here after you have it and you can email it to me.

It takes them about 30 minutes to an hour to edit out an email address so you will have time to get it before it disappears.

I will take a look and see if anything looks like it can be improved.

Thanks Dave. I think this was mostly do to my sub-standard junk…lol. If I actually get a chance to lift sometime this week I will see what I can do. I wanted to lift tonite, but playing with metal objects, in a metal building might not be the best idea during a thunderstorm. Really weird weather for November. :frowning:
