I come from a family of mental illness and even tried to kill myself once. Cutting isn’t about attention, so this chick posting all this stuff on-line is a bunch of shit. Don’t get me wrong, I really don’t care, but it isn’t very difficult to make a name for ones self with crap like this. In this case, I see somebody who doesn’t want to put forth the effort and risk failure by trying to do something worthwhile, but still wants her 15 minutes. Well, I guess she’s got it, but in much the same way as the columbine killers do. There is nothing stopping anybody from opening fire in a crowded school/mall/church and becoming famous, or cutting yourself like this and posting it everywhere. Sometimes doing something that actual contributes to society is just too much damn work. And we just legitimized it all by spending hours talking about it.

It’s my understanding that most cutters do so because, unlike emotional pain, it is a pain they can control. For most it is not a cry for attention.
