Elitist Ultra-Liberal Anti-American

Ah Zeb, you miss the mark so thoroughly so often, perhaps you are blind? Not that there would be anything wrong with that.

derek:

Hey I’m with you pal. Some (foreigners) just don’t get how great this place really is!

ZEB, I think I love you (as one of my clients says: a non-sexual crush). Keep up your stance and your posts… good stuff! My fiance’ (see I told you I wasn’t gay) was never very politically motivated until she started paying attention to what was going on. She’s a die-hard (Bruce Willis?) Conservative now. My sister-in-law was an 80’s punk-rocker-Liberal-rebel-type in her youth (she’s 36 now). She now asks herself “what the hell was I rebelling against, anyway?” She now uses that fire to ask her still-leftist-pinko-peace-freak friends that she left behind why they are sooooo wrong and wondering when they will grow up and realize that America is the best place on earth? Millions of immigrants can’t be wrong!

Psst, Neil, who is this Carolyn Parrish?

[Googling for a few minutes…]

Hahahahaha! No, I’m afraid I’m only criticizing comments and opinions, not making blanket negative statements about the US (although a few seem to disagree).

Actually, more seriously, I think she needs to be severely disciplined. She holds a position within our government and could theoretically be misconstrued as representing the offical opinion of the Canadian government (by the hapless observer).

Luckily, I am just a schmo who could be misconstrued to actually know or believe anything I rant about. There is a huge difference.

Psst, Derek, don’t tell Zeb, he won’t believe it, but I think America is a great place too.

Absolutely. A lot of foreigners would love to live in America… this does not mean they can’t despise their foreign policy.

The problem in America is that people think there’s liberals and conservatives (and independents, but who cares about them), and that the media is either liberal or conservative or somewhere inbetween.

Well, let me tell you that’s wrong. There’s a whole global scale of beliefs out there, and American liberalism or conservativism (sp) maybe only covers 5% of that scale.

Put your hands 2 inches apart; your left hand is liberal, your right is conservative, and there’s a couple of inches of space in between. That’s America. But if you go to this place called World, you have to put your hands a bit further apart… try 40 inches. That’s world beliefs right there. Realize that what you see in your country is only a teeny tiny bit, and certainly nothing compared to the rest of the world.

PS: Sorry for the weird analysis, but I hope it helps you understand what I mean.

Your post, (if not confusing enough) when compared to your name is just about overwhelmingly confusing. And who cares about what “foreigners” think about OUR foreign policy? I don’t see the relevence

Foreign policy: a policy governing international relations.

It is especially your foreign policy other countries criticize, since that is pretty much what affects them. Other nations don’t mind your health care reforms, since it does not affect them directly, but your foreign policy does.

If everyone went around saying “I don’t give a damn about what you think!”, just imagine what kind of world we would live in?

vroom:

Actually, I do believe you, I just wish that you would show it once in a while. Don’t be the “ugly Canadian.” (reference to a movie we know that most Canadains are good looking…the women at least).

You have stated on a few occasions that you are fiscally conservative. Why don’t you pound out a post or two on that subject?

Give us some vroom wisdom on why it’s a good idea to lower taxes in the US.

Our foreign policy is a large part of why this country is as great as it is. We got here BECAUSE we didn’t care what others thought. We do what’s in our best interest yes, but how many examples of the U.S. assisting others (even AFTER they declared WAR on us and got their asses handed to them) does one need. It’s not a coincidence that we are the envy of the world. Anyone saying different is in denial. And if this were not the case, then which country should have the bragging rights? And as I always tell my clients: “If you can DO it… It 'aint bragging”!

HAHAHA, that’s so blazingly stupid it’s actually really funny. Oh wait…you were serious? Sorry.

Who cares what foreigners thing about our foreign policy, it’s not like it affects them anyway. HAHAHAH

I’m sure you don’t, and I doubt that you ever will.

tme: I think what he’s trying to say is that we don’t let foreigners write our foreign policy. WE get to pick what we care about, not THEM. That’s not so tough to understand, is it? Why such a hater, bro? Oh… I forgot… the Kool-Aid…

Loth, brother, Are we actually conservatives in moderates clothing? I always say I am a moderate but I happen to agree with almost every conservative viewpoint. I see more and more of this from you as well. Should we just defect now and declare our unholy allegience to the neocons? What did you call them the Crips?

If foreigners don’t get to care when you go piss in their pool, who does? Is this just a statement of “might makes right” so you can do whatever you want to anyone else if you wish?

It’s not a matter of foreigners writing your foreign policy, its a matter of your foreign policy effects foreigners, they have a right to care. Consider this, if your policy is going to affect my world then I should get to voice my opinion about it.

Let me know when the invasion of Canada is on okay… not that you should care if I don’t like the idea, but I still wouldn’t mind a heads up at least so I can stockpile food and fuel, ok?

Hey Zeb, are you listening to this stuff? If you want me to speak up on conservative issues maybe you should speak up on this issue… ?

tme, did I hit a nerve there, or what? Why are you directing your anger toward me? I was being civil so I expect the same.

Lothario was right on!

If we allowed other countries to dictate our foreign policy, we’d be no better than the French. After all I think Saddam influenced Frances’ foreign policy quite a bit over the last few years. No?

Hello, Chirac, are you listening?

Derek,

You know the difference between the words dictate, influence and consideration right?

You twist my words, vroom. I said WE get to pick what WE care about. Y’all can care about whatever y’all want. Have fun.

Voice your opinion all you want, vroom. That’s the whole “freedom of speech” thingy we do around here. But don’t think that just because you can talk that it means we are going to do as you ask. I’m sure Saddam was of the opinion that we should just leave him alone, but everybody knows how that turned out.

Don’t terrorize our citizens, don’t bomb our buildings, don’t kidnap and torture foreigners in your country, and you won’t have to worry about Team America coming to kick the shit out of all the Terrances and Phillips in Canada. Simple enough?

Nice work vroom, keep it up.

I love how several conservatives talk of the United States of America as if it were not part a GLOBAL SOCIETY.

It’s time for us humanists (read: democrats) to secede from the Confederacy so we can move forward in this world…psyche! This land is our land, you lost in 1865 and you’ll lose in 2008.

What up, Veg!
I can’t be a “crip”… I’m for gay marriage, and I think it would be a bad idea to outlaw abortion right now. They probably wouldn’t let me into their club even though I’m probably more hawkish on the war than most of them are. I still end up skirmishing with ZEB and BB on occasion, so I don’t think I qualify… especially after some of the posts I’ve made on religion threads.

On the other hand, I’m definitely NOT “blood” material. I’m not a Kool-Aid soaked pussy!

I can name a world leader who definitely possesses WMD. He is also despited and considered a threat by approximately 80% of the population of the entire planet.
