Electoral Politics: A Losing Game

Who could possibly know better than you? As to unionization, which do you prefer, and why?

Yep just like all those people in the studies. Why would they be able to give any insight. Just you should’ve been asked.

is this the real choice? Unionize and the shop will close? It will be interesting to watch all those Starbucks stores close. Quick! Someone tell those workers they are ending their own employment.

A friend of mine’s dad owned a successful business outside of Chicago. The workers said they were going to vote to unionize. He, being the boss, told them straight up that if they vote to unionize he would close the business. He told them they would lose their employment.
They voted to unionize and the next day they showed up to chained and padlocked doors. Boss wasn’t bluffing, he shut the business down because he knew it would no longer be sustainable.

So yeah, those employees handed themselves a pink slip.

Hey Drivel, Google Open shop and closed shop.
That comment made you look lacking in union knowledge.

Clueless

Surly brewing in my home state did this. They were more clever about it though. When the closed down, it was like 2 days after unionization, and they said it was slow business due to Covid. They said it was indefinitely. They opened up a few months later.

They also made a ā€œunion busterā€ beer.

I mean that is the kicker right? The owner/ boss can close the entire operation and make you all jobless.

Nobody runs a business to not turn a profit. I sure as hell don’t work, invest money, time for fun/ free.

Imagine that being more clever than people wanting to not work and demand more for nothing.

I don’t really either, other than I know it’s a pain in the but to work with them sometimes. I remember at my first engineering job the technicians were all unionized. I got a grievance written against me because I pushed a cart with an engineering test unit 75 feet from the storage crib to the engineering work desk for troubleshooting. I literally got accused of taking someone’s job for pushing a cart a few feet in order to get my (non-union) job done in an efficient time frame.

And people wonder why Unions are garbage in today’s age.

If I were you I would delete your post before even more people realize how unqualified you are to discussion the positive attributes of labor unions.

He is probably in his twenties and entitled as fuck, thus communism and unions. Dont worry life will hopefully teach him. It does when you start paying high taxes and you start shouting against all the lazy bastards you have to pay for with your taxes.

Not really in his 20’s

Which makes it even worse.

I keep getting a NOT FOUND message when I click on the link.

Huh? Starbucks are doing something illegal. Say it ain’t so!

And what about all those employees who decided to unionize and kept their jobs and got better pay and benefits? Is it only a matter of time? Maybe those people worked for a better company than the one your friends dad owned.

They all died about 15 years ago. Unions haven’t done anything for anyone except the lazy and incompetent in 70 years.

And I literally got fired from a long term job on the basis of a lie. The lie could’ve been proven to be so if the management would have bothered to look at the video footage. This was in a right-to-work state where they don’t even need a reason. Then when I filed for unemployment, my employer lied to the unemployment office as to the reason why I was fired. Gratefully the unemployment office believed me instead of those idiots. They ought to be in jail. Fuck right-to-work! It just means right to work for less.

Then someone needs to alert the businesses that have increased productivity as a result. Maybe it doesn’t matter because the employees are making more money and maybe the management is not.
