Electoral Politics: A Losing Game

It means the right to make more money for competent employees. In a right-to-work state, I can negotiate my pay based on my worth. In a closed shop, I get the same as the worst employees. I’d rather not have them pull me down.

I just looked it up. The designations and employment qualifications in regards to unionization. So I learned something new today. Does this dilute the point? You have no real argument so you try and find something that one is not familiar with to score a point and to think that you’ve won. A pathetic tactic in the realm of debate. Deflect from the real argument with knowledge that the opponent may not know then declare victory.

I was asking a serious question. I had no idea you had never heard of open shop/closed shop. But it sure was funny!!!

Which of the two do you prefer and why?

But you have sort of answered that just this afternoon

But they do run a business to have others make their dreams come true. Maybe they shouldn’t be in business if they can’t pay their employees living wages. Not mom and pop businesses but major businesses who move production out of the country to get cheap labor. They don’t need to move in order to survive, but do so, so those at the top can have even more. Greed. Late-stage capitalism’s ethos: whatever can increase profits, do it. The environment doesn’t matter peoples lives don’t matter. There are no consequences that should stop your inexorable turn for profits.

Yes, if it were true, that would be worse for you guys.

You sure are a cry baby. Sorry to hurt your feelings.

It means you have no rights and the employer has them all.

All employment should be at will. You are doing an unsatisfactory job I fire you, I don’t like you I fire you (of course I wouldn’t have hired you in the first place). I want this because I also want the ability to quit at a moments notice.
I don’t want my pay rate based on some nominal negotiation of what some people have decided everyone is worth.

I have more than doubled my salary since coming into my first career field job post undergraduate school. I also figured out a way to get a company to pay for my masters at a top private college. You get out what you put in.

Yes, we should help those at the very bottom but I am unwilling to help someone who won’t help themselves.

You want a set salary regardless of your own performance go get a government job. They pay on scale only.

You are very whiny and nothing is ever your fault is it? Maybe you were just a shit worker.

My guess (apart from a poor work ethic) that @castoli is a “know-it-all” who could run the business much better than the management. I guess is that everyone was glad to see him fired.

Tell that to professional athletes making millions playing kids’ games.

Now there is an apples and oranges comparison.

Comparing extremely talented people to common laborers.

Because they are the attraction that makes the organization billions.

It’s simple really. They pull their worth many times over. You think the billionaire owners of these teams are stupid?

I have the right to leave my job for a better one anytime I choose.

And you are smug ignoramus.

Yes, first into work and consistently had the highest sales.

I believe @castoli is saying, what about the worthless employee that nobody wants to hire? Doesn’t the employer have an obligation to continue paying the worthless employee? I mean the employer did hire him.

How does the population feel about it?

Good luck with that endeavor. Finding a new job that pays well is not easy.

I don’t give a fat baby’s dick what the “population feels about it”. Screw their feelings. My career isn’t influenced by people’s feelings.
