Egg Whites: Why are We Not Eating the Entire Egg?

I think the takeaway is if you’re leaning down, the whites will be a better choice. But if you’re trying to gain some mass and can take the extra calories then eat them yolks.

FWIW I toss the whites and eat the yolks. There is evidence that egg whites are inflammatory, allergenic and linked to autoimmune disease (basically in the category of foods that compromise gut integrity). I will have them from time to time, but usually when I eggs it is just 4-6 yolks lightly poached, or raw in a shake with Metabolic Drive, Superfood and maybe some coconut butter. From my research, there has never been a case of salmonella in the US from someone eating “pasture raised” eggs. There is actually a theory that egg whites (like the outer layers of grains and seeds and nut skins) are in part evolved to detur animals from eating them.

Anyway, 2 scoops of metabolic drive and 6 egg yolks is providing about 540 calories and 60 grams of protein. If you want to carb it up, add a banana, or if you want more fat, go with coconut butter.

From what I understand the problem with full digestion is broken down once the egg whites are cooked. so yes egg whites might not be as nutritious as they seem when raw. I’m not sure what the effect is mixing it in with other foods. That may solve that problem if I recall. Either way you’re right and there’s no problem whatsoever with the yokes
