I’m somewhat convinced that @Edgy would have had less symptoms with the actual infection

My son came up from a Sunny San Diego last week to visit his mom for moms day, he’s doing a 5/3/1 with a power lifter friend in his garage stuffed full of Rouge equipment.
He’s pretty impressed with himself, and I am too, he’s made great gains and they do an early morning workout which adds to their dedication.
You don’t see too much of that these days from the young-uns.
But he wanted to be put through my BB workout ala Meadows/Darden/Humiston/Cavalerri…
I think he left here both in pain, and more pumped than ever.
Good times

Training has been pretty solid lately, 3-4 times a week, sometimes I can get away with 2adays.
I’m still on the push-pull-legs split, and am maintaining my mass.
I am still at 230, and would love to get down to 210 o so, but that just ain’t in the cards for me. I used to drop carbs for 4 months and reach my goals but it gets harder the older you get, oh well, I’m still sexy, and that’s all that matters.

For cardio, I get in a 2 or 3 two mile walks per week.

What I am most happy about though is I recently had my blood checked, and the labs came back great, along with my vitals. My energy is slowly returning since I caught covid last year, so things are looking up.

I think I should give up on strength goals however. At 57 a lot of me hurts. I wanted to get back into DL. But after a couple of sets at 185, my lower back is not happy. Ugh.

Another good news is that the PT is working on my left shoulder impingement and I am seeing progress. That I am most happy aboot.

I’m off work till Monday 12th, just a staycation, so nothing really planned…
Except.
Train every day, keep the volume low, intensity high and shock my body with some frequency.

So, today chest/tris

Mostly weighted stretches, compound movements.

Flat DB flys/flat bench to failure/squeeze presses to failure. 4 sets
Slight incline repeat for another 4 sets

Laying DB Skullcrushers, 10 reps, hold for count of ten, then 5 reps, hold for count of five to failure, compounded with cable pushdowns with a 6 second hold at the bottom count to 4 up to failure. Repeat 5 times.

Then abs and calves

Try to keep it all under 45 minutes.

Sound like a good challenge? Let me know your feedback

Did some legs/shoulders today.

Mental note, if you want to keep the volume down, in order to maintain the frequency without burning out, maybe you would want to not watch the leg training motivation videos on the YouTube…

Anyway, back was a little angry, but I still was able to crank out a great leg workout.
Empty bar squats for wu, 4 sets of 20.
135 lbs, quarter squats, 4 sets of 15
185 lbs, quarter squats 5 sets of 10
Empty bar reverse lunges, quarter, pumped out reps to failure, 3 sets each side
DB ham curls, 20lbs, 5 sets to failure
Frog pumps

Then some shoulder work, nothing to write home aboot.

This was after a 2 mile walk.

Sure hope I ain’t getting too old for this.

Day 9 of my 10 days in a row training.

If I didn’t anger my lower back on day 2, it would have been better.

But, it feels like I’m hitting a groove now, had to increase my calories.

One more day, chest/tris.

Finished up with my 10 day shock-the-system training.

I feel pretty good about it. Would have been even better if I didn’t tweak my back on day 2, but oh well.

I’m on the push/pull/legs split, but I do shoulders on leg day, just so I can make sure I am getting enough volume on them. Shoulder love volume.

There is a 2 mile path by the house, so my schedule was wake up sometime between 6 and 7, hit the walking trail by 8-8:30, have some rest and breakfast, then weights, then shower, lunch, then nap.

Gotta tell ya, that’s not a bad life. It’ll be hard to get back to work tomorrow…

I’ll see if I can get some pics to post for science.

We’re approaching the ides of August.

Yeah…so, lots of changes lately.

There was a change in management couple of weeks ago that put me on the road to retirement and enlighteninment, but instead they gave me a promotion and huge raise, so now I’m working too much and training too littles, and not watching my diet, etc…

Oh well. Probably no changes in body comp lately.

Ugh.

Very disappointing post, I hope better for the future.
