Eddie Hall Eyeing Up Raw Bench Press WR

lol, I’m not saying it’s a smart idea but there’s been plenty of stupid, strong people that train drunk.

Notice the comma.

He’s written a bit to the opposite effect. As a non-drinker, I can’t really speak to it.

Pretty sure at one point he was drinking about half a bottle or more a day of jack Daniels. Dude has always been out there, but had insane results training and eating how he did. Like that one meet he did where you could see his abs through the singlet. I had never seen anything like that at that time. I know this is an Eddie thread, but I always gotta chime in when Jamie gets brought up. So many gems in C&P and so few people know about it.

Watching the video, I’m kind of impressed with Julius Maddox’s approach to the bench - not maxing out because it didn’t feel right, taking extra days off if he feels he needs more time to recover. Also focusing on a lot of upper back work, which I’ve found really helps my bench. It seems like this approach could result in some huge numbers.

After watching the video I also got the impression Eddie finally realized there’s no way he’s ever catching Maddox, at least not without drastically changing his training and lifestyle. He may hit 700 at some point but Maddox is still pushing the number higher and higher

Eddie Hall fanboys punching the air right now after seeing how fast that 744 flew. :joy:

He was apparently planning to do 350kg (772) but passed on his third when his pec didn’t feel 100% after the 744

I saw that and it made my day to see someone smart for a change. After how many stupid choices some people in the sport make, it’s nice to see someone live to fight another day. ESPECIALLY when the second attempt looks like that.

Ha true, good call, but easier to make the call when you’ve already broken the WR lol, might have been different if only the third was for the WR
