Eating or Having a Shake During Workout?

I just slam one of these bad boys about 45 mins pre workout, then drink a protein shake after the gym.

Usually does enough to get me through it, and that’s on a deficit.

Can’t speak for anyone else than myself, but a few things definitely.

To be clear, I’m not claiming it’s a necessity for anyone nor me but it allows me to do more than I manage without.

And without us supplement buying folks maybe this forum wouldn’t be around, so you are most welcome.

This is me precisely plus it is hugely convenient. I train after work and so my last meal prior to training. Mixing up some Plazma and taking it with me to work (when I was actually still going to work) is so much easier than prepping a meal that I need to remember to eat 45-60 minutes prior to training. I never know precisely when my work day is going to end and so using Plazma is just to damn convenient to stop.

Many supplements have turned out to be bullshit, but some have stood the test of time. Whey protein and creatine are among the latter, and that’s what I stick with. Whey is just food, but it’s in a form that’s more convenient for busy people.

IF you are training really hard, especially pushing the volume then something like Plazma mid-workout or even just some amino tabs can make a huge difference over the long term

are you really busy if you have time to do a LONG workout and eat during your workout… hmmm its not the same subject… YES whey is great for busy people.

It seems you’re headed down the path that an intraworkout supplement is an absolute necessity for everyone or completely useless for anyone. I don’t think that’s the argument anyone is trying to make.

I find them extraordinarily convenient when my calories get low: I’m able to get in a little more volume with a little less misery without timing out a meal (which would have to be small and annoy me).

I also tend to do really well with more carbs and lower fat, so that might be part of it. Different strokes and all that. I played sports when Gatorade was “magic,” so I’m sure there’s just some good old habit mixed in there.

Not to be overlooked, it just creates something of a routine for me. I wake up, grab it out of the fridge, and by the time I take a sip that means it’s gym time. Kind of like taking three dribbles on the free throw line every time. Less thinking is always better for me.

It doesn’t matter whether you drink a protein shake before or after your workout. Protein shakes are helpful during workouts and in between meals, make sure you’re getting enough water throughout the day.
