No, I wasn’t starving myself, I was taking in 3500 cals per day. Nice try.

You are going to tell me that after 7 years training you only weigh 165 and yet you weren’t starving yourself? Nice try.

Yes, I am an athlete, practicing 7 days a week. Does that confuse you?

It’s hard to maintain mass when your running 7 days a week.
Uh I played football and ran track in highschool and I still graduated at 230 pounds, yes it does confuse me.

Throwing your weight out and listing HS sports doesn’t really help at all. I’m 5’10", and for lacrosse, that weight is ideal, since acceleration and speed are a major factor in the game. In the off-season I might hit 175, but by mid season, as is normal with any sport, I usually dropped down to 165 because hard weight training is not an option with games. Your point is moot.

I know you won’t believe me but at that weight I ran a mid 4.5 second 40, I was in excellent shape having played football, running 100m sprints several times a week and working on conditioning with an Iowa state wrestler.

This doesn’t need to turn into a pissing match but you pawning yourself off as an elite athlete at 165 with 12% bf and 7 years training and then telling people to not eat after 8 pm as an optimal way to cut bodyfat is just ridiculous. Lacrosse is a contact sport, why on earth you would want to weigh 165 is beyond me, but whatever dude, we all know you have to be tiny to be fast right?

Yep, that’s why 6’3’’ 250lb Vernon Davis ran the 40 in 4.38. Only if fatty had lost some weight he could have run a decent 40 time and made his NFL dreams come true. Oh wait…

Blowing the BS whistle on your speed, otherwise you would have been and NFL prospect if you had even a trace amount of athleticism. I do not claim to be an elite athlete, nor was that supposed to influence my post. I simply stated that not eating after 8pm helped me cut, as it has many other people, period.

And I don’t think anybody really cares who you trained with or what kind of sprints you ran, this was a post about eating before bed.

I eat a fuckload of cottage cheese and peanut butter before bed, works for meee.

Fair enough, but I’m just saying if you are holding a lot of muscle skipping meals is not ideal.

Well me and one other guy split playing time, he plays for Kentucky now, he was a freak too. He was 195 and ran a 4.33 with a 460 squat. Shame he hasn’t gained a pound since leaving high school or he’d probably get to be drafted next year.

I didn’t have much interest in football, I only played 2 years, I just enjoyed the training. Plus when you go to a school of 300 students, you don’t attract many D1 college scouts.

Contradiction much?

Regardless, not eating after 8pm works, try it if you like. Also, in regard to the VD comment, Vernon Davis is a beast and I love him, 49ers are money this year.

I’m of the impression that getting adequate PWO nutrition is far more important than not eating before bed.

Your right, but that wasn’t the question.

I don’t really have a problem eating before bed. I usually just eat a decent amount of cottage cheese and it does the job. I think if you are trying to cut fat just keep carbs low at that time.

It was however a good answer, the OP finishes gym 9pm ish, no way he would want to stop eating at 8pm and I personally wouldn’t want to miss out on my two post workout meals.

Assuming the OP was at the gym in the morning, I would try arrange calories so the bulk was around the workout but keep eating until atleast a few hours before bed, longer if he needs to get the calories in.

When I was looking to cut my BF%, I followed the old rule of not eating past 8pm, and it definitely produced results. I can’t tell you the exact science behind it (maybe someone else can?) but I have seen it supported in various literature and it really worked for me.
Unfortunately, there really isn’t any concrete science behind it.
