Early AAS Undermine Gains. T/F?

I am 19, I have run 2 cycles. I just finished a 12 week test, tren, and dbol/drol cycle. I am 5 "7 a little over 200 pounds now.

I love bodybuilding, I put everything into it, i eat 7 times, I do double days, I dont drink or smoke or use drugs. blah blah

I keep reading threads where people basically say “you are undermining yourself by starting AAS before full development”. I do not want to undermine my progress in any way since I love bodybuilding so much.

But I do not understand the logic/science? Why is it that if you juice before reaching “full development” or “genetic potential” that you would “make it more difficult to surpass that potential and keep growing”, as people say in articles/threads.

This statement makes no sense to me. It sounds like bro-science (just look at alexey lusekov for God’s sake!))

I believed AAS would allow me to reach my genetic potential sooner so that I may surpass it NOW and keep progressing. Is this not true?

Any input is always appreciated, this is the first place I go when no one else seems to be able to answer my Q’s

There are a few potential limitations. The big one is irreparable damage to your developing endocrine system. I think you can’t overstate the significance of that factor but people have suffered worse, especially if you’ve been doing good pct.

At 19, you probably didn’t spend many years busting your ass to add 5% to a lift. That shit sucks but you learn a lot about what does and doesn’t work for you during those times. Few people ever each their natural potential so I wouldn’t get too hung up on that but when you hit a wall - which you will - will you know how to proceed without just upping your dose?

Tren at 19 is nuts dude. I’m afraid you’ll be blasting and cruising by 21 and chemically castrated by 25. That shit isn’t hyperbole either. Take care of your body. I’d suggest you get off for a while and spend some time trying to keep the gains you’re made and increasing your performance, rather than focusing on body comp. Good luck.

using steroids at a young age can prematurely stunt your growth through early skeletal maturation and accelerated puberty changes. This means that teens risk remaining short for the remainder of their lives if they take anabolic steroids before they stop growing. Also the use in teens can potientally damage the endocrine system permanently, resulting in using needles for the test of your life

So it’s more about developing a strong grasp on the art of bodybuilding (breaking walls, diet, how I recover/grow best) in your opinion.

That is a more reasonable view

What do you think of this:

Now if you started to use steroids at that point, 165-185 lbs you may be able to put on another 15-20 lbs (180-200lbs). If you had started using when you were 125 lbs., and gained 25lbs through the use of steroids, you would still be well short of what you could have gotten naturally (150lbs as compared to 180-200lbs), and now it will be much harder to try to gain another 30-40lbs.

Why would you only be able to put on a 15lbs maybe I’m confused by your question.

well I quoted it from some article
and I cannot post links

It is basically saying this: the more you grow without AAS, the bigger you will be able to get once you start using them.

This implies that using steroids before you have reached this limit makes it more difficult to surpass it.

But Incredulous explained it to me in a way that makes sense, I think: If you rely on drugs early on in training to make gains, you will not have the experience/knowledge to break plateaus later on, therefore limiting how much you will grow even with the use of AAS.

You look great man and you’re really young. If you can salvage your endocrine system and hold on to most of what you’ve developed then you’re golden. Get off the shit for a while though or you’re in for trouble. You seem to be in a big hurry to get to your “potential” and that’s a recipe for disaster.

While you sound like you enjoy the lifestyle, if you can’t keep at it when the gains aren’t easy then you’re going to look and perform like everyone else when you’re 30, 40, 50 and beyond. You’ve got a long life ahead of you and plenty of time to exceed your natural potential - if that’s your goal - but for right now you should be excited to have a great physique and a passion for something that will enrich your life for as long as you stay motivated.

Again, I’d recommend focusing on improving your performance because those improvements aren’t subjective. If you’ve been staring at a bunch of test and tren in the mirror for a while, and that’s how you judge your progress, then you’ll be disappointed when you’re off. However, if you look less freakish but throw 50 pounds on your squat then you’ll know you’re moving in the right direction.

Don’t be in such a hurry to max yourself out. Enjoy the ride. Otherwise when your source dries up, what will you do?

I’m no expert, but this is generally accepted.

If you use steroids before you reach your natural potential it doesn’t necessarily mean you all of a sudden have a lower ceiling however you may lose specific sensitivities where you hadn’t needed to, although this is just temporary for the most part IMO. Let me explain it like this.

You start at 160 and have a natural cap at 180lbs at a specific bodyfat, instead you use steroids to get to 180 when you could of done it naturally. You’ve temporarily desensitized yourself to androgens in a certain respect depending on your doses, genetic disposition etc. If you now use the same amount androgens you used to get from 160-180 to attempt to gain more LBM you will be at a disadvantage than if you had done it naturally and never exposed yourself to these androgens before.

They key is to take advantage of every growth phase you possibly can. Who do you think will grow more in respect to a 1 year time scale. The guy who jumps on 1gram of test right away or the guy that starts at a lower dose and slowly increases his dose as necessary taking advantage of every growth phase possible? The second guy will have used less amount of gear within the year and most likely have also gained an larger portion of muscle mass.

Note that the above information is made on the inference of someone who wants a career in bodybuilding, you are at a greater risk of permanent endocrine dysfunction if you use gear at a younger age. It is healthier to wait until you are older, but it is healthiest to not indulge at all. I’d also agree largely that the more experience and tribulations you face as a natural athlete the better equipped you will be to face these problems when using gear.

Is it temp? I mean people say you will NEVER get gain like the first time you use AAS…

I think I’ve made better gains after my first cycle. I just think with the more cycles you run the more experience you will get on what works the best for you routine and diet wise.

This is great advice thank you all very much. What you are all saying is not stated so explicitly ANYWHERE else.

I’ll just have to get over that feeling of “I could be doing/getting more”, and train naturally.

I feel like if I had a few years more of experience, I could make more gains off than I just did on cycle.

PCT now, and start focusing on finding ways to improve my training.
