Everytime I see GMs and squats in your thread I think about the way you use to do them by taking them off your bench and carrying them to the living room. Good training.

LOL…let’s hope I never have to go back to doin’ that. Thanks guys!
Speaking of squats, I had great expectations for today’s workout. Feeling pretty good lately, and despite tearing off a callus yesterday, I’d planned on going pretty heavy.
Squats
1x10xbar
1x6x135
1x4x185
1x4x225
1x4x275
5x3x335
1x1x335
Short session but PRs on the sets. Last week it was 8 triples with 315, and this week it’s 5 with 335.
Was doing great, then began to feel a significant amount of pain that wasn’t quite right, so I called it right there. Still had to go to the farm and get a load of firewood, so, I’d better play it smart. Lower back kind of sore, and my R hand is f*&#ed. Finger nail is peeling off from smashing it a while back, and now the torn off callus. I think I’ll take tomorrow off and maybe Monday.
Been taking a tribulus stack for a couple weeks now and like it. Have no idea what’s all in it, but you take it before you workout and it seems to add a good bit of energy to the session.
Got my Alpha Male a couple days ago and started taking it the next day. Bought about a 2 month supply(2 bottles) and the directions state that it will take roughly three weeks to see results. I’ve used Biotest tribulus products before and remember being pleased. Looking forward to these next couple months of training. And yes Mr Skid I intend on pushing things to it’s limits these next 8-10 weeks, then see if I can drop some fat. Turned 48 a couple weeks ago, and that kinda plays with your mind a little. Ya know, tryin’ to prove your not as old as the calendar says.
Sunday I thought I might be out for a while, but thankfully it wasn’t much. Had a terrible ache in L bicep. Something I haven’t felt since PT post surgery, but it left as soon as it came, weird. And I must have just gotten reckless in my form and felt a pop in the lower back on the 6th set. Pretty pleased with what was happening to that point.
DZ, hope those aches&pains all subside. Looking forward to your 8-10 weeks of pushing it to the limit. The squat/bench/rack pull numbers are looking awesome.

Thanks Eco! It’s just my luck to strain the lower back as I’m starting some new supplement. Still kinda tender, and today was pulling day. Not gonna risk aggravating it, so I’ll stick with some shoulder and arm work today.
Rear Delt Raises
2x12x25s
Reverse BB Curls
1x10x45
2x8x65
1x8x75
Front Laterals
2x10x30s
Side Laterals
2x8x30s
BB Curls
1x8x45
1x8x65
1x8x75
Shoulder Press
1x10x70
1x8x90
2x8x120
Not really what I would have liked to have been doing today, but it’ll have to suffice.
Back’s still pretty tender. Mostly just in the morning, but I tried some stiff leg deadlifts and it wasn’t going to happen today, so I did what I could.
Shrug bar shrugs
1x15x135
1x10x225
1x10x275
3x10x315
T-Bar rows
3x10x90
Close Grip BP
1x10xbar
1x8x95
1x6x135
1x5x155
1x5x175
1x5x195
Things will fall into place given time and recovery adjuncts. haven’t been by in awhile so I thought I’d play ‘catch-up’ since no work today because of snow. You set PR’s in the squat in back-to-back workouts - AWESOME! Sometimes after pushing that hard, a de-load week is in order.
Sometimes you have to take a small step backwards, so you can make giant strides forwards. Your back will recover to squat PR’s once again. Powerlifters and scientists more knowledgable that I, recommend no more than 2-3 workouts at greater than or equal to 90% as it negatively affects the CNS.
I have experienced ths 1st-hand as I was to stubborn, dumb, & thick-headed to listen to my body & to what they recommended. Go to school on me & try not to let that happen to you! Dave, you’re on a roll, so keep rollin’

I have all kinds of trouble getting on this thread. Keep getting blank pages.
Anyway Lookn strong man!
As of late I am having some trouble backing off myself. I know in my heart its the right thing to do but…
Hey DZ - on the 8 sets of triples for lower body I have been using upper limit speed weight, ca. 70% of max and trying to make it move quickly.
I do NOT try to do more than 3-5 sets at anything above 80%. It’s just too taxing unless it is the only thing I’m going to do for the day and so a sure recipe for over doing.

Yea…It wasn’t very smart to try do do that many sets of triples.Form got sloppy and tweaked my back. BTW, I like your new avatar.
Thanks Jimmy, Galaxy, kmcnyc, I thought about that, some time away from squats and deads might actually be a good thing.
