DZ's Training Log

Thanks for the explanation, DZ. Definitely must be tough.

Had tons of things going on these past few days. Had to call the well drillers out to excavate the yard and fix things. That was a big mess to clean up. Stacking firewood this weekend as well other pre Winter activities, and my regular job has made for a busy weekend.

As I mentioned, I’m looking at doing some different things with my lifting. Just having some fun and mixing things up. Found something in the article archives that looked interesting. A two week routine that focuses on the arms.

The first six excersises were done with no rest, or only as long as it took to throw on or take off weight.

Underhand CG Bench
1x10xbar
1x10x65
1x10x95
1x10x115

Reg. grip bench
1x5x205

Wide grip BP
1x10x135

CG BB curl
1x10x65

Shoulder width curl
1x10x65

Wide grip curl
1x10x65

Squats
1x10xbar
1x8x135
1x8x185
1x9x225

Seated calf raises
1x10x90
1x8x110
1x10x90

Incline crunches
3x20

DB Wrist curls
2x10x40s

That was fun! Entire workout took 50 minutes. My arms are fried.

Took it outside this morning.

45 minutes of splittin’ firewood. Turns out the wood I gathered over the Summer, after the utilities crew cut trees, wasn’t so good. It’ll have to sit till next year.

Tire Flipping
5 sets across the yard and back,
80 flips.
Found a new way to make tire flipping more difficult, as if that were necessary. Wet grass and mud makes trying to grip the tire pretty tough.

Was the tire full of water and about 50lbs heavier? Last time I did tire flips my tire was on a slight incline and full of water. The first few flips uphill were killers. I like how you mix up the inside and outside workouts.

I am envious of you both getting outside like that. I ain’t got no tire to play with and no place to put it, neither.

Yes it was, and as I flip it, it splashes out all over the place and makes it hell to grip the darn thing. But I still love flipping my tire. After the well guys finished tearing up my yard, I realized I’ve got a new large stone to play with. It’s about the same weight as my 120lb’er, but it’s almost round. Should be fun.

Nice work that, DZ!

Good job DZ.

Seeing as how you’re a recognized (well, ok northern) state record-holder and all, and somewhat aged, I will countenance that laugh this one time.

I’ve been collecting rocks in the yard lately as well. Starting next week i want to get back into the outdoor training. I have rocks small enough to shot put and varying sized bigger ones to carry. Sandbag, tire and some rocks, who needs anything more.

Eco…I love working out outdoors. I can’t flip my tire in the Winter, So, I’ll need to come up with a greater variety of things to do.

LOL…Thanks so much Geech, you’re very generous. Since we’re on the subject, I’ve wondered how it is that your linguistic skills are so good in the English language. Better than many of us whose primary spoken language is English. How does a Frenchman learn to read and write, and I’m sure speak, English so well?

DZ, Name in the record books is really something to be proud of. Even turned back the clock for you.
I think our friend Geech may be an expatriate. Either that or his vacation to Georgia gave him a dose of bubbaism.

Great Job Dave!
