DZ's Training Log

You keeping your elbows in when you bench? I have shld pain if I bench any other way. Keeping the pullthroughs as regular I see. Great workouts.

Try and figure out what variable has changed…sleep, diet, recovery, stress. Sometimes you can find a reason, sometimes it just is what it is. Stick with it.

Thanks ecogenx. I’ve had shoulder pain for years. It comes and goes, and will pass with some time off. I usually forget to eat some ibuprophen before I head out to the gym till it’s too late. Thanks for the tip, I’ll look at that next week when I bench

Thanks mday, several of those factors could be involved right now. Working 7 days this week, and might get a day off next week. I’m sure you guys know all about it. Sometimes the shit gets deep, and it get hard to focus on your training, and planning your next workout. You try to make time for this’n that, and everything demanding your time, and still make time for an hour or hour and a half three or four times a week for yourself. But we manage huh?

That’s why I give a lot of credit to the people in this forum. Holding down jobs, raisiing families, dealing with life, and still finding time to work out. Said once before I respect you all more than the pro strength athlete who’s job it is to train. Might not be original but I always just tell myself this too will pass. Keep on managing, DZ.

nicely said hel

Thanks guys!

Gotta work early tomorrow, so I’m doin’ my squats today.

Daddyz, I will be looking for my first meet after a couple more lifting cycles(spring most likely). So if you don’t mind I may be asking you a lot of questions. I have no idea about shirsts, suits or what to expect.

I don’t mind at all ecogenx, I’ll share what I know. I watched a full meet before my biceps tear, then was a contestant in a full meet this past April. So, I have somewhat limited experience, but I’ll help where I can. I do all my lifting raw, so, where shirts and suits are concerned, Jimmy, Colin, and Pencil Neck may be of more help. I will tell you, it’s a blast!

Bench
2x15xbar
1x10x95
1x6x135
1x6x185
3x3x235

CG
1x8x135
1x8x155
1x6x175
2x4x175 W/chains

HS Incline
1x6x180
2x4x230

One Arm DB Rows
2x8x70

Ab Pulldowns
3x12x90

thanks DZ

I’m still hovering at around 206lbs. So my GPP is going to be for overall conditioning rather than trying to loose weight.

Tire Flips
5 sets (90flips)

Cinderblock Farmers
5 sets

I discovered I get a killer workout with those farmers if I put a shrug into it. Very tough!

Deadlift training today

1x8x135
1x6x185
1x4x225
1x4x275
3x3x340

Form was not the best on the first set, although it was a strong set. Back kinda tired from flipping yesterday. But I feel I’m right on track to pull 400+ at the contest.

Leg Curls
3x12x110

Ab Iso Holds
2x80x30sec

Nice progress DZ…I know what you mean about form on the DL. Sometimes you just have to muscle the weight up and hope that form comes along.

I cannot wait to see what you get at the meet…

When’s your competition and what numbers you looking to hit?

Meet is Sept. 13th, in Grand Rapids, MI. Federation is the ADFPF, same as the last meet I was in. I’m looking for,
Squat-380 did 355 in April
Bench-270 did 248
Dead-400+ did 385

That bench is probably a stretch, I missed 260 in April, but I felt that was a fluke. I still weigh around
206-208, so I’ll register as a 220, Masters 2.

DZ, very similar goals for my meet in Nov.
Squat-350+
Bench-275
Dead-450+

I will probably be in the 242 class/open

The squat will be the most difficult lift for me.

My meet is also the 13th in Sacramento, CA

I’m hoping to get
Squat 385
Bench 275
Deadlift 485

although (2|3|4)65 may be more realistic.
I’m going to try and weigh in in the 198 class. The stage fright will be most difficult for me.

Damn guys…that’s great! I think it’s fantastic there are so many of us doing meets. Ecogenx is planning to do one as well.

Today’s training

Rear Delt Raises
2x12x30

Front Laterals
2x10x30

DB Shrugs
3x8x120s

DB Curls
2x8x40s

Tates
2x8x40s

BB Curls
2x10x65

Cable Pushdowns
2x15x180

Hypers

Nice DZ!!!Looking forward to your meet too!!!
