Dude, You are Swole

I leaned out a bit recently and look a lot bigger and like I actually train with weights.

We got new form fitting shirts at work so I look big in them, tight on the arms, show the taper etc. So I get a good amount of compliments and lifting questions from co-workers and customers.

I’ve made a few new friends recently just from guys coming up to me to bull shit about training.

I get more recognition from my brothers that lift than regular people which is cool. We have something in common so we discuss training and what not. It’s a respect the iron brings. I always find that most guys who lift show me more respect than your average guy and I give them more respect because we all know the dedication that it takes to be big and strong. Not that I care about some elite status in the gym, we have some guys in their that will put most regular lifters to shame and I am not at that level yet, but your group of friends in the gym grows the bigger and better you get. You get some more respect and I like it.
Amen bro, outside of the lessons I have learned from lifting this is my favorite thing. I feel like there is a mutual respect between me and anyone who lifts, it’s cool how people so different can be brought together by one thing.

yeah, it’s because in highschool you have kids who range from 14 to 18 years old some of these kids just hit puberty while an 18 year old can be at the end of it, so combine this and average highschooler is actually really small, so when you get that outlier who finishes puberty by 18 and lifts the other kids do yell “steroids”

that being said, having friends joke about roidz isn’t the same as being accused of roidz

Got the vast majority of 'roidz comments during my first year, and it was all from co-workers ranging from 30-60 in age. I guess people are just used to trying to lose weight when they hit the gym as opposed to trying to gain. I went from 170 to 205 pretty quick, and people who hadn’t seen me in a few months would be surprised at how much I’d grown.

I still get funny looks when I say something about gaining being a goal. They just can’t figure out why I want to be big.

And for the record, I know I’m not big yet. No E-Pee-Pee waving from me. Just trying to share some good “you’re swole” stories to offset some of the ignorant shit people say. Sometimes people shit on all your hard work (haters), and sometimes they show support (friends).

Dude, I just checked your photos, um, are you on roids???

But seriously, yeah, you look big ( 237lbs)and you’re right…I don’t think people are getting accused of steroids that much. Some ol’ bullshiat.
Finally! Thanks, I can quit lifting weights now. lol.

How old are both you guys? It seems like younger guys throw out the steroid card more often imo.

I’ll be 35 in 6 weeks. You might be right but some adults act that way too. I remember arguing with a dentist over whether Tiger Woods looked like he was on steroids. He was 100% serious that Tiger Woods was taking them.
There are jealous and hateful people through out the populous. I get quite a few veiled steroid accusations, usually a couple a month.

I’m 182 and 15% b/f. If I’m taking teh roids I want my muthafawkin money back!!1

You and nards can have some of my roids accusations if it will make yall feel better…lol

hell even a family member likened taking creatine to banging heroin…no shit

I’ve tended to notice that unless the person is into fitness themselves they generally have nothing nice to say. Friends, family, enemies, coworkers you name it, they all have more derogatory statements than positive comments towards me.

One time my oculist asked me if i was taking steroids i just replied:

“Are you insane? i’m just fat, if i took steroids it would be a waste with this kind of physique i have right now”

I had one coworker ask another if she had ever seen me outside of my lab coat… that I look like “one of those old time black and white strongmen with the handlebar moustache and shit”.

I don’t have a moustache, so I’m thinking it was my hairy forearms and the fig leaf lingerie I usually wear that made him think of that.

But no steroids accusations yet.

bump

so i work with this kid who started lifting a couple months ago. he’s like 5’10", 150 lbs, cocky as shit, brags about being %7 BF and claims he wants to be “as jacked as taylor lautner” (werewolf guy from twilight who always has his shirt off)

we were talking lifting and him gaining weight came up

ME: you really just need to eat. stop going crazy with macro percentages and eat more

SKINNY KID: dude i’ve gained 5 lbs in like 2 months

ME: ok you’ve gained 5 lbs but how much bigger have you got?

SKINNY KID: well i do high density lifting so my muscles grow inward instead of outward

i was trying to think of a witty reply to this but i am truly baffled by this level of stupidity lol

oh god damn that is some funny shit…we need a new post of “stupidest saying from under the bar”

HILAR!

and since I love talking about myself… last weekend at the gym ran into a few people I havent seen in ages. First one “Damn, you’re getting pretty big, but I like it!” Second one “woah, you’re gettin kinda skinny you should stop”

Pffftttt.

Last month I walked into my son’s music school with a tanktop on (I always wear t-shirts out in public).
The music director looked at me and said, “damn… what’ve you been doing - bench pressing buses?”

My grandmother, last night:

“You’re too big, you need to get on a walking program, the weight will just fall off.”
