Dude Tries Jumping Over Car... Ouch

Sam Fisher would have been disapointed about that roll.

Interesting… Wikipedia says this show has been on for 29 years. In the USA these types of shows don’t seem to last more than 1 season.

On a related note, Kurt Cobain is an guitar hero.
Ah, didnt cath the first time that he is an hero.

Yeah, that he is.

LOL, now I got it!

There’s risk and then there’s stupid.

He’d done this before and practiced it prior. I don’t see how it could get more thrilling just because it was on TV.

Climbing cliff with no rope is risky and I’m sure would give you a hell of a rush, I don’t see how you could compare it to this without calling what he was doing retarded.

There’s nothing funny about it: he’s still in a coma (which was artificially induced for protective measures).

He test-performed his stunt thrice two days prior to the live-performance, and twice he nearly stumbled when landing. So, yes, there was a chance it wouldn’t go as smooth as he had hoped. It was his risk to take. This doesn’t translate to 'Haha, that douche. Serves him right. Lolz.", though.

Gregron, you’re a bad man.
You will burn in hell.
You will lose your dick, too: I’ll grab a few of my Nazi friends and will come over and castrate you.
J/k, dude. You still suck, though.

This is why people do this shit and a LOT of people are entertained by it.
this was NOT a jackass type stunt. it was a stunt.
The mentality BG everyone wants their 15 seconds of fame, nobody wants to actually fucking work the grind of adulthood. They can do some stupid shit like this make the $ get the snatch and ride off into the sunset.
Not sure if I’m getting you right, but maybe you’d like to read up on the premise of the show the guy performed in: Wetten, dass..? - Wikipedia
Guy’s an accomplished gymnast, so he had already paid his dues and way merely honing his craft. Wasn’t as good/well prepared, obviously.
Probably not cause chances are I am much older than you. So this is what gymnast do after spending years performing their craft, do stupid game shows? If he wanted to be a stuntman for movies and he got hurt doing a movie nobody would say anything. If he was competing in something a little more meaningful again I dont think people would say what they have done. Personally I have no opinion other than when people risk there lives for the entertainment of others they have to understand what they are doing. Good or Bad. He had desires of fame and fortune did he not?
Squiggles wrote:
I guess I don’t get the laughing and ‘he’s an idiot!’ comments. I don’t feel particularly sad for him - he knew the risks, after all. I do feel bad for his family, particularly his father.

Those of who talk about people who do risky things as being idiots, I don’t understand you. Do you not have a compulsion in you anywhere to push yourself to the limit and do something outside of the comfort zone? Find out what you’re made of? Take your fear and tell it to suck your dick?

I’ve walked (shimmied, technically) across a 4 -6 inch ledge without harness/safety ropes on a mountain over a 1000+ foot sheer drop. I knew any little mistake meant I’d die. If I had died, would that have made me an idiot? Maybe in your eyes - but then again, you’ve never experienced the part of you that comes alive when attempting, and ultimately succeeding in, these types of things. It’s simply something you’ve never experienced, and cannot understand. Thus you call people idiots when we, having experienced the next level, simply you at you with pity knowing what you’re missing.

I’d rather try something ‘stupid’ and accept the risk of death and fail then live between the safety ropes of life in hopes of avoiding an untimely death.
This is normal for youth and changes when you get older and responsible. Sorry not hating but I have 5 kids and a spouse who loves me. Do you really think they would give a shit that I was feeling on top of the world before I plummeted to my death? NO they would want there father and husband. Again where you are in life this is normal to cheat death and feel the rush. But when you get older things change.

Fatty, if he almost messed up 2 out of 3 times before… I dunno man, seems like he flat out wasn’t ready. (then again, how do you even train for stuff like this, other than by doing it?)

Damn, the father (and mother of course, but the father was the one driving the car) must feel fucking horrible.

If not for T-Nation I wouldn’t even know about this… Ah, the joys of not watching TV or reading those useless damn newspapers anymore…

I have to admit, it was.

My wife actually laughed, so I guess when we die we’ll at least be together in hell or something.

P.C. to an extent, it gets old trying to prove a point on here. But sometimes it can be fun.

See what I did there. I did all my risk taking by having the 5 kids.

Unless you’re trying to tell me that you’re already familiar with the show’s premise: what exactly are you trying to tell me?

Are you saying you’re to decide what goals someone should pursue?
You sound a bit deprecative concerning the guy’s intent to perform a stunt in front of a big audience.

I think so. He gambled. And has to pay the price.

That’s all.
He doesn’t deserve schadenfreude, though.

First I dont know how to do that quote thing you all do with breaking the quotes so bear with me.

No you wouldnt understand me cause we are probably in different age groups, that makes a difference in context.

No performing in front of an audience for entertainment is a long profession. However it is because people want to see the death defing acts some for the excitement some for the horror (I dont watch these). I worked ER for 14 years I have seen enough death and dying to fill a life time.

schadenfreude dont know what this means, but sounds cool. I only watch football on TV and movies. I dont watch game shows, sitcoms etc.

In America there is just a large portion of the populace that are playing the lotto with life. Dont go to school, get a job, work hard instead grab that 15 minutes of fame and make millions of dollars. I really dont know if that is the case here and I dont care. But I do thank you for not degrading to the normal assault on me personally just because we didnt see eye to eye on something.

I with DJHT.

Heck, I thought shit like this was stupid when I was 18.

If these guys are so cool by living on the edge, then maybe they and the people that support them, could all stop giving a shit whether I think it’s stupid or not.

according to the networks spokesman Samuel Koch is suffering from a broken neck and is in stable condition… nothing about a coma

even though you’re american, you should be able to grasp the meaning:

It says he’s in a künstlichen Koma which is a drug induced coma.
Es bestehe keine akute Lebensgefahr= he didn’t suffer any life ending injuries that are threatening his life

I’m working in Zurich this week with a lot of German dudes who were talking about this yesterday. Funny thing is that nobody seemed to be interested about how the kid was doing, they were just pissed the show got canceled.

hahahaha thats not even in english bro… or should i say “brohiezen” (thats the german translation)

get google chrome, it will translate any page from any language into english.

he was put into a medically induced coma to try and stabilize his deteriorating condition. he has fractures and bruises all along his spine and they are trying to reconstruct it with metal. my guess is hell be paralyzed minimum.

on a side note, american news ways saying he was fine, but i dont trust american news they skew everything to make us think everything is fine, did anyone catch wind of that asteroid that passed a while back? it was about the size of a state and passed as close as the moon and the news didnt cover it until after it passed because they didnt know if it was going to hit or not and they didnt want to cause a panic cant find the link to the one i read but they happen a lot appareantly
