Drunk Supplements?

Before you go out take 4 ibuprofren and drink lots of water. Drink water throughout the night (if your friends even allow you too). When you get home take another 4 ibuprofren, chug lots of water, and get some PediaLyte (its electrolyte replacement drink for babies and this shit really works)or Gatorade. When you get up another 4 IB’s, plenty of water, Pedialyte or Gatorade.

I’m sorry but this is absolutely horrible advice. The PediaLyte and Gatorade and water is great, but DO NOT take ibuprofen, acetaminophen, aspirin, etc etc etc (NSAIDs) with alcohol. They are fine the next morning once you just have a headache and all the alcohol is out of your system, but as long as you have alcohol in you, NSAIDs can cause serious liver damage.

The gatorade and water, however, many of my friends swear by. Being in college and in a frat, I have some friends who love to drink so they have lots of hangovers to cure. [/quote]

Well, first off, acetaminophen is not an NSAID, but that’s neither here nor there, it’s metabolized by the liver and not a good thing to mix with alcohol (which, obviously, also overtaxes the liver).

Aspirin and Ibuprofen have been shown to increase the risk of upper GI bleeding, and occasionally renal failure, when taken with alcohol. Overall I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

I know lots of people, myself included, who’ve gone out plenty of times taking motrin or something before drinking and I’ve never yet seen anyone suffer from acute renal failure or stomach bleeding. If you really want to worry about something at your bachelor party, worry about your future wife seeing the pictures.

my advice would be to just man up and take the hangover.

i think the important advice that needs to be given here is that if you have honestly only drank maybe 15 times in your life, you need to be somewhat cautious as to not end up in the emergency room. it seems as though people tend to forget that you can die from too much alcohol.

idiot’s turn 21 and go to the bar to do 21 shots…which turns into being more than 21 shots…and next thing you know theres a news story interviewing the persons mom talking about how they were such a good kid, never got into trouble…etc.

i go out for beers pretty much every saturday, have been doing so for quite some time. i have 10-12 beers, sometimes a 40oz steel reserve- pretty much get “drunk”…and i get the hangover no matter what precautions i take. but ive never done that 21 shot bs or anything like it. dont let peer pressure put you in the hospital (or the ground).

In the spirit of this site I’ll throw out one more piece of advice.

Go for a run the next morning or hit the iron.

Sweat it out. Works wonders

Good advice. When we used to have to lift for morning weights it would really help the hangover.

As far as alcohol, the ones that I have noticed that don’t give me hangovers are captain morgan with diet coke (Stay away from the sugary stuff. I used to get terrible headaches from drinking a bottle of whiskey and a 2 liter of Coke.

I also get a terrible headach from drinking that much coke period, go diet), glenlivet on the rocks or neat with a lime, any scotch and water keeps the hangover away, also keep from switching alcohols halfway through. Pick 1 liquer and stick with it. Or you can order dark beer. Nobody will question a man drinking guiness for not drinking enough.

To avoid hangovers, don’t mix alcohol with drinks very high in sugar (orange juice, soda, etc.).

There are some really over-the-top suggestions in this thread. I mean, it’s only one night of drinking even if the OP has a low tolerance.

My advice would be to just hold off on all alcohol until you’ve been serviced by the professional entertainer(s). And then, as others have suggested, just stick to beers . (hard liquor is just concentrated poison anyway)

Congratulations btw.

I dont know if your party is over with or not yet but I have some friends that swear by this revive supplement. Every one of them swear they are hangover free when using it. Im going to be giving it a try but for other purposes.
