Drug Allegations Against Tim Couch

The shit has hit the fan…again

Though I think steroids are great, I kinda think they should be either totally avoided or totally embraced in sports. So since they aren’t embraced I find it a bit distasteful when a guy uses them to beat other guys in a race or something. If everyone used them it would be different, of course.

This is different though, this guy is just trying to rehab his shoulder. Why should he not be allowed to do that just because those drugs can be used for performance enhancement? I think cases like this provide a good argument for total legalization. If a doctor says, “You need HGH to heal yourself and to ever play again.” then he should allowed that right.

I don’t think it’s a big deal because he was under doctor’s orders, it was only for a week, and he was out of the league at that time, trying to get back in.

The main thing is that he was proactive in telling news outlets and sources about his use of HGH before someone found out and exposed him.

Not only was he under doctor’s orders, but he wasn’t even in the damn league at the time. I totally disagree with the leagues stance that, if you are a free agent trying to make a comeback their “policies” must still be followed. If he passes the test, it shouldn’t matter.

True he was under doctors orders, but then every player would just get a doctor to prescribe them. These guys get injured every week if he is allowed to use it then others should be allowed to us it.

They’re catching star players in every sport every week using performance enhancers they need to just lift the ban off it. Who cares if they get suspended for a game, if they just got $5 million bonus and MVP because of their performance.

Punishment does nothing if it doesn’t outweigh the gain.

2 Shoulder surgeries, prescription, out of the league for 3 years, I’ve got no problem with that. You know what I’ve got a problem with? Anonymous sources. F*** that. Unless this is a matter of the utmost immediate personal danger (it is not), or nat’l security (not), or organized crime and witness protection(not), or stalker/serial criminal (not), you should not be able to run anonymous sources. I bet the documents aren’t even real. And if they are, I don’t care–he was doing it completely legally. In this case the NFL (or other governing bodies in similar cases) is completely retarded if they consider disciplinary action.

On the general subject of sports/steroids–I don’t care if people use. I think roids should be more legally accessible. BUT if the league you are competing in has rules against it, then unless you’re in situation like Tim’s, or a few others I could mention, you should not use. In fact, I have no mercy for those who use. You broke the rules, you lose. Period. If the NFL or MLB had some sort of policy like professional cycling (3 year ban, lifetime ban) I bet you’d see a lot less people willing to risk that. But it’ll never happen.

Why would one use a tourniquet for an intra-muscular injection?

Just playing devil’s advocate here: how have the professional cycling penalties decreased usage in that sport? They almost had to cancel the damn Tour de France last month with all the high profile failures that happened there.
