Dr. Serrano's Amino Loading

Someone asked recently about amino loading, but I don’t think they got much of an answer. I was just wondering what everyone thinks regarding free form amino acids. It seems that research definitely supports the use of BCAAs, but I can’t find anything conclusive regarding free form amino acids… I have sent an email to JB, but haven’t heard anything as of yet.

Free form aa’s have the fastest absorption rate of anything we’ve studied to date. Unfortunately, it may be a little too fast because the rapid uptake can lead to a “crash” and a catabolic situation. Check here for more info: http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=459463
Have you ever tasted free form aa’s? Man, they are some NASTY shit. Our subjects have no problem with arterial punctures or muscle biopsies -it’s the taste of the aa drink they complain about!

Because we have transporters for di and tri-peptides in addition to aa’s, we’re theoretically only using half of our total transport capacity with straight aa’s.

Oh, one more thing; although I like the theory behind BCAA use, I wouldn’t exactly consider the science compelling.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply and the article. I have not supplemented with or tasted free form amino acids. I have not used Surge or BCAAs. I am starting CT’s Mutation Series today. Do you have any suggestions? Should I just use Surge or make my own? Or supplement with BCAAs alone? Thanks again for your reply.

I’ve used this when trying to stay strong or maintain endurance while on restricted cal/carb diets and it’s worked well. Diet situations that require performance, like wrestling is where this made a difference for me.
In most ‘get big’ or get lean protocols I think there are alternatives
