Dopest Lyricists

Seize, dope list man. I’m a fan of everyone on there as well.

Sam sneed, the thing with RA the Rugged Man is his best works were either never released on an album, or featured on someone else album. With one album from like 93 and the more recent Die, Rugged Man Die like 10 years later, I duno how the man even pays the bills. Truly and underground legend(emphasis on underground). Anyway though if you wanna find some of his best works you gotta do some digging.

Apparently he’s releasing(released?) a new album though.

But yea RA is incredibly fucking dope.

Since no old heads came to post some of the dopest of the past,

Rakim:

The R to the A to the K I M. Nuff said.

Kool G Rap:

(Youtube doesn’t have the best G Rap selection but this song is dope)

Big Daddy Kane:

Big Influence on G Rap and most other dope lyricist to come. More or less invented multi’s. Dope innovator in hip-hop.

Big L:

One of Hip-Hop’s Dopest Martyrs. One of my personal favorite rappers. RIP.

Big Pun

The Punisher. Another of hip-hops martyrs.

There’s a couple other old school’s I wanna post but I really don’t feel right throwing just anybody up there with this list of giants.

I don’t think anyones mentioned Phonte from Little Brother. Dude used to kill verses…too bad all he does is sing now.

Hey guys, check this dude out. hes gonna be big. Wiz Khalifa, from my hometown Pittsburgh. He performed with Nas at my school, and actually just performed at my frat last night. Cool as hell and real ill

Paradox/irony in the title of the thread?

666rich thanks for putting Wiz Khalifa on the map for me. Luv this dudes stuff.

Forgot Mr. Lif, that’s a good track from him, not too political.

Oh, and here’s a track for you belligerent, just so you can understand him

Game Time-- Thanks for the Flipside track, one of the most sincere tracks I’ve ever heard.

666Rich-- Tight beat, you’re right, he should blow up.

Can’t believe Dilated Peoples hasn’t been listed yet. Here’s a classic:

Also Diverse:

Hieroglyphics:

Heiruspecs:

People Under the Stairs:

Prefuse 73:

That’s all for now, dinner calls.

I’m missing a couple names on here. Vakill. Tonedeff. Fucking Pharoahe Monch.

That said, I fucking love this thread. A lot of my favourite artists are represented here and some of the stuff really takes me back.

Now to contribute:

(just had to put this in here cos it’s so fuckin HARD. Vintage lifting music to me)

K-os

B.o.B

Honestly I don’t even listen rap
cuz when I turn on the radio on out comes crap
But if you make good music thats ok
but on tha radio that they dont play

bob is teh shit

Flash if you still hangin round here what you think bout this track. Lol i cant stop listening to it.

I didn’t check all the posts, but I hate to date myself by saying that Kool Moe Dee was incredible for rapping at a fast rate and rhyming with fantastic intensity.

He would frequently rhyme all of the sylables in a word, like ‘ludicrous’ and ‘new-to-this’.

I’m 36 and a white Canadian, so I thought that was pretty neat. (Note that I just used the word neat)
