Entire album below the heavens is real good.
Can’t believe Lupe isn’t on here yet. I agree with most of these except Vinnie Paz and everyone in AOTP except Celph Titled. I love JMT and AOTP, but Vinnie pretty much says “Imma [insert kind of killer], you a [insert pussy, fag, christian]” and repeat.
Celph kills it though. Hands down the best punch lines anywhere.
Can’t believe no one has picked Inspectah out of the Wu-Tang camp. Hugely underrated. Listen through all this and how can you not put him in the top 5 GOAT. His verse off Triumph, is still one of the illest to date IMHO.
Cormega is underrated to…here’s 3 songs I like
Saga Remix
Cormega - The Saga Remix - YouTube (wait until 1:31 when it kicks in hard especially)
Therapy
Verbal Graffiti
Dj premier + Cormega = Fire
Killah Priest - Very underrated also…
I believe
4 tomorrow
Happy
Blaq Poet
We gonna ill
Watch your back
Saigon Come on baby
Az, 2pac, Jay Z, biggie, big l, big pun, rakim, nas, kool g rap, chino xl, scarface are all mandatory of course.
forgot another top 10 in my book Joe budden!
Pray for me
Whatever it takes (sick!)
Joe Budden Escape Route - Intro (IMO one of the sickest, strongest intros to any album, requiem for a dream sample INSANE)
These guys only have a few songs on youtube but they are dope:
Another great song by Flipsyde…deep as fuck:

what are the odds of us BOTH finding hip hop artists that smoke? Incredible.
If Yoni Wolf counts as a rapper, than Yoni Wolf.

I smoked with Black Thought from The Roots and I’ve smoked with Jurassic 5 back in the day. I snorted a bunch of coke with Andre Nikatina too. In fact, I think Andre Nikatina gets my vote for dopest lyricist.

When it comes to lyrics in hip-hop, nobody’s delivery or lyrical content can match that of the Ghostface Killa and Raekwon. End of thread.[/quote]
You do realize that most of what Ghostface says is just rambling, incoherent nonsense that sometimes rhymes, right?[/quote]
It;s not incoherent rambling, just extremely slang heavy. You’re confusing him with ODB.

No, I’m not. There was an interview a couple of years back [source maybe?] where Ghostface was claiming to be the best rapper and even the interviewer had to call him out on his rambling nonsense. Not surprisingly, Ghostface retorded with -you guessed it - rambling, incoherent nonsense.
I used to like Aesop but now I’m leaning toward it’s just jibberish… even if it has some actual meaning it’s no fucking fun to listen to if it takes that much effort to decipher… there are artists just as clever who say what the need to say in plain fucking terms that sound better
Wax?
Funny shit.

I’ve heard of RA the Rugged Man before but never heard his music. So I listened to his verse in the 1st post, His lyrics are fuckin insane. He paints that picture vividly. My favorite lyricists are the ones that can tell a story, not just make shit rhyme for rhyming’s sake.
SOme of the other artists on here are awesome lyricists but have an annoying voice. RA has that awesome combo of great lyrics with a great voice. I listened to the Die, Rugged Man, Die album and am loving it.
I see quite a few of you are fans of the indie/underground scene, cool!
A few of my fave artists
