Don't Eat on Public Transit?

Fuck everyone that said NO to eating on the train. My gym is a 2 minute walk from the subway and sometimes I eat a post workout meal on the train. I train mostly after work though so by that time, not many people are on the cars.

And waiting till you get home to eat, like someone said is hard when you just came from working an 8 hour shift and you’re hungry as hell, which i would assume a lot of the people who use the public transit are.
Eat before you get on then genius.

That would be a splendid idea if I didn’t finish work at 11pm, get to the gym at 12:00 and be done by 1:30-2:00am. AAAAAND if the commute home didn’t take 1 hour.

The reasonable solution is to pack a protein shake and drink it down before you get on the train

The complaint is directed towards people eating full meals (especially hot ones) on a train. Foods that cause others to constantly smell what you’re eating. Pack some portable snacks like protein bars/nuts/dried fruit to hold you over during the train ride. Heck even pack a second shake to sip on while on the train.

When you get home eat a proper meal.

Not sure if you’re familiar with the place but I train at Bloor St. Boxing and Fitness(24hrs). So, I drink the shake after weight training then BOX. So, I eat the MEAL right after.

And I don’t think it’s that big of a deal FOR ME cause there’s hardly anyone on board when I catch the last train eastbound.

But even if I sat down to someone and that person brought out something drenched in fish sauce, I probably would not say anything to him. I’d probably make faces and shit but I’m not rude enough to tell someone to fuck off the PUBLIC train and stop eating.

I’m not American but I’d have to say that video shows that race is NOT as dire an issue as people may try to make it out. As though tensions are ready to boil over at any minute.
I mean that those three women were arguing but I don’t think anyone said racist things and nobody that intervened seemed to care about race.
Though I’m sure that the white woman was thinking bad stuff and the black women likely were after the incident.

Similar thing happened to me on a train once, I was listening to music and some dickhead across the way got my attention and told me to “turn it the fuck down”… it wasn’t very loud, but the train was dead silent so you could hear it a little. I turned it down just to defuse the situation and turned away.

The white bitch shouldnt have said anything since she’s not talking to a couple of 12 year old kids… she’s talking to 2 people that could potentially (and did) start something. But the black bitch should have had enough respect to not eat on the train… especially some stanky ass Chinese food.

The only thing missing was Charlie Sheen.

If its not against the ules to eat, shut up.
Even if it is against the rules, what kind of response do you expect by calling people animals.

Bingo! Calling someone an animal? Who wouldn’t smack a bitch if they called you an animal?

The white lady was riding the public transit, called out two people minding their own business by calling them animals, and just could not let it go.

The way she was acting, she was NOT as rich as she thinks.

New Yorkers? New York is a big place, sampling from a small selection are you? Even if not the case still an ignorant thing to say. I might as well say black people are repulsive, and fat old white women. Only those in the subway though. O also the ones that ride airplanes.
lol! well, as a New Yorker I feel like I get a pass and can make all the commentary I want - plus I take the subway almost exclusively, and having people slurpping up chinese food, mcdonalds, nasty bacon, egg & cheese (Matty! you know it) and then leaving their garbage everywhere is pretty gross.

I didn’t mean to offend and meant “repulsive” in a non-threatening way. Like Pootie said, this a daily experience - along with the loud-ass music coming from people’s headphones at 7am. Kills me.

Matty - nooo! You say you’re gonna leave, but you just can’t quit us. HAHA!

This is why I love having a car and driving where ever I damn well please.

NY isn’t known to be the most passive city. You talk shit expect shit to happen.

Ha ha masch…I dont know anymore…between the nastiness and everything getting so EFFING expensive I just cant take it anymore…I totally agree with you, its fucking disgusting, again, if you dont give a shit about common courtesy and people around you ok fine, your a badass and just dont give a fuck, but what about you personal health? The subway is a vile place a festering catacomb where germs and nastiness is everywhere!

There was a report a couple of weeks ago on what type of stuff is on a metrocard kiosk…they fucking found human fecal matter on a fucking kiosk? now tell me, would you want to eat a nice italian dinner knowing that someone’s shit is within arms length?

Oh and FUCK that if you cant wait to eat and have to on the train, my daily commute averages 1 hour and 45 minutes and I have a 8-9 hour work day…its called a fucking lunch break, if your job doesent allow you one and your so famished where you have to eat on the train…you must be working in a fucking sweatshop or some other illegal place so you may as well call the dept of labor.

Have some respect for yourself and others…eat your 3 course dinner in the privacy of your own home.

I agree that people should mind their own business, that was never a question.

From my point of view I wouldn’t want to eat on the subway simply because it’s pretty damn dirty, probably not relaxing, and overall not a great place to enjoy a meal.

I really just mind my own business as I’ve never though twice about people eating in the subway. Then again I have a car and rarely take the train.

Why? Is it against the rules to tell someone to not eat, or to call people animals? If the rules are in fact what we should use to judge these actions, then the white lady didn’t do anything wrong by saying something.

Bunch of hypocrites in this thread. It isn’t against the rules to say something to someone about eating either.

I had to take the subway for years when I worked in NYC and don’t miss it one bit. I used to take the 2 3 train to Wall street and that was shared by the suits and people heading to the crappier parts of Brooklyn back then. I once had to step between between 2 women: an older Spanish business lady and a black chick from the hood because the Spanish lady was getting her as beat bad. As a reward, the Spanish lady pepper sprayed everyone within the vicinity of the platform. I had to explain to my boss why I had purple spots all over my Khakis when I got to work.

Seeing people argue or start shit on the NYC subway was never surprising when I worked in NYC 2000-2003. Shit gets started over hard looks, eating food, squishing into crowded cars, stepping on feet, loud talking, cutting in line…yada yada yada. It’s just a confrontational place. There’s always someone that won’t let it slide.

I don’t think it’s posted on the trains that you can’t eat but I’ve seen the signs on buses. On the New Jersey transit trains, its common to to see people eating a sandwich or drinking beers after work. If it doesn’t stink up the train, I don’t have a problem with it.

I haven’t looked it up, but I’m pretty sure harassing other passengers on the train is against the rules.

People spill crap all the time and you know none of them clean it up. It’s why subways always are so nasty.

I get annoyed with people who eat like that on the train. I end up having to ride in a nasty car because of it.
100% not a rule to not eat on nyc mta. Its PUBLIC transportation. Youre allowed to eat in PUBLIC.

Shes from NY, quasimodo.
MattyXL wrote:
I hate when people eat shit on the train, would I say anything, no, its not like there taking a shit on the train (which I happened to witness, a bum did it).

But seriously cant you wait?, NYC city trains are disgusting filled with filth, bacteria, rodents, germs, WHY THE FUCK would you eat on a train, fucking spaghetti no less…wait till you get home.

Now the fat white lady was out of line and possibly borderline racist…but eating on the train is plain old disgusting and a real strike against personal hygiene.

Seriously, at 6am when Im on the train, the last thing I want to smell along with the modicum of morning breath is someone eating a stinky ham egg and cheese on a onion bagel.

And in the summer when its 95 degrees down there last thing I want to see is some dickehead eating a messy whopper licking his fingers and then holding the strap hanger again.

I hate the subway…all the more reason that I may have to move out west one of these days.

I leave lower manhattan around 7pm most day. I want to be in the gym by 830. I dont want to lift on a full or even half full stomach. Im eating on the train. Im sure you arent smelling my cold cut sandwhich, piece of fruit and pretzels. Smelly shit is the problem, not food in general. Obviously the folks coming from canal street eating their salted fish snacks or whatever they are stink up the whole train. I also dont see how eating a sandwhich on a train is any less sanitary than eating at a fast food place. Its not like Im setting up a place setting on the seat next to me.
