Donating Blood for Blood Pressure Control

I have noticed my blood pressure going up to 140 to 150 over 80 or 90 since I started TRT and my pulse is up to 80 to 90. Since it was previously lower I assumed it was from TRT and more specifically higher HGB and HCT number. I had the Complete blood count (CBC) done and my HGB and HRT were high but not over the high value for the test. No big deal, I figured I just donate blood and see if the BP comes down.

If you want to try this, do not mention anything about why you are doing it. Just say you want to be nice and help others. I have now been to the blood donation center 3 times and still not been approved. I’m ready to poke a needle in my arm and do this myself. The first time they said “oh no we can’t do therapeutic phlebotomy with out a doctors order” My doctor said that was nuts. The second time at a different location they said our records show you as denied. The third time my note from the doctor was not specific for what I wanted to do.

I explained why I thought this was ridiculous and the woman was nice enough to suggest a different clinic â??American Red Crossâ?? since they did not check the local hospitals network. Iâ??ll try tomorrow at one of the local blood drives and you can bet Iâ??ll keep my big mouth shut.

Moral of the story is donâ??t say why you want to donate blood if you want to or need to do this. I really donâ??t know or donâ??t think I need to from what I have been told by knowledgeable people on this site but I figured â??what can it hurt to tryâ??

Iâ??ll also post my post blood letting BP. Anyone know where I can get a bunch of leaches.

For anyone interested, I was able to give blood today at the red cross donation center. Funny think is we check my BP and it was 120 over 80 and pulse was 67. Checked it with my meter and it was 150 over 90 and pulse was 67 or something close. Looks like my meter is reading high. Checked BP tonight with my meter and it was down to 138/84. So it does look like a good blood letting does lower BP as far as I can tell at this point. Guess I need a new meter.
