Well, there are then two separate arguments being made in his defense and they should be considered separately.
- He did it but the insurance exec is a monster who deserved it. I don’t think this argument will save him in court.
- He didn’t do it and there is a conspiracy to frame him. I haven’t studied this and probably won’t, but if there is merit then it should be presented in court and the rules of evidence and jury trial should be followed.

There is a third option: plead not guilty, as he has, and instead of providing a defense, tell the prosecution to prove he did it.
I don’t know if a lack of sympathy for the CEO necessarily means support with regard to killing him. It’s one thing to say you understand why someone did something and another to be ok with it.

Yes, that is how criminal law works. That doesn’t mean he will get off. The prosecution is fully capable of providing proof.
The implication of this thread as I understood it was that the OP expects he’ll get off inspite of evidence that he did it because enough people think it was no crime to do it. I find that unlikely.
You seem to think that the evidence is weak and he won’t be shown to have done it. I frankly don’t know the details enough to speak about that, but it seems to be a completely different discussion than what I thought we were talking about.

I’m subhuman vermin because I believe that Mr. Thompson got what he deserved. He presided over a company that makes people suffer and die all for profits! He played a major role in that. He knew what was going on but did nothing to change it. Gotta make more money, fuck any consequences! And this is the guy you want to defend?

Not exactly. I haven’t seen all of the evidence but what they have put out appears to be circumstantial in nature. Even the so called ballistic evidence is not exact science. I’m just reserving judgement for now and I think we all should given how often what the media as well as the government puts out as truth turns out to be false. I leapt to judgement on Chauvin, as did many people, but now, with everything that has come out after his conviction, it has me rethinking things. Then you have something like Ruby Ridge and the fact none of those federal agents went to prison. They shot a kid in the back and killed him. There is no way a reasonable person can read the facts of that case, even those presented by the government, and not think there should be some federal agents and officials in prison.
I am not sure Luigi will, or will not go to prison, but I know my high school students (and even co-workers) think he is a hero.
