So I guess the question now is…Were all the KB swings worth it? Lol

Great write up Flap and great pic’s.

And congrats for fulfilling your goal, that’s big. Now you have some real experience to work with.

A good bike with TT bars is crucial, but it also needs to be trained.
And you’re not cruising on those bikes, it’s just as hard I can tell you. But much faster.

Try to find a good used road bike.
Keep training the transitions, easiest way to cut seconds of your overall time.

Don’t forget a REAL fitting once you dive into a tri bike. They aren’t cheap but it will make a difference

Congratulations on the work and the accomplishment!

I’m just back from watching teammates compete at our local “big” jiu-jitsu tournament and between that and your write-up, I’m feeling a little inspired to compete myself!

I was looking on craigslist but a guy at the race told me to look on eBay and sure enough it’s full with 60-62cm road bikes for 3-400 USD. Gonna put a bid in on one soon.

Don’t forget about Facebook Marketplace. It seems to have replaced Craigslist here.

Join “online swap meet for cycling and triathlon” on Facebook. 25,000+ members and tons of deals. Make a WTB and let them come to you. Shipping a bike is cheap and easy, I’ve done it 3 or 4 times.

that is way way to big… I think.

How tall are you?
I’m 182 cm and I’m riding a 56 cm road bike.

182cm is like 5’11, I’m 6’3. I went off this image:

Which might be totally wrong, but does line up with your height and frame size.

Congrats man, nice work!

The pup has landed!

Wow looks like he won’t have a hard time adjusting!

Not sure if you’ve owned a dog before or it’s your first time but just some 2 cents:
Teach your kids to feed the pup themselves. There’s a reason for the idiom “Don’t bite the hand that feeds”

I’ve had a lot of patients in the ER with their children getting bitten by their own pet dog and that kinda puzzles me as someone who’s had dogs my whole 27 years of existence and not a single bite

That’s a good idea! I spent time as a tech and my wife is a long time tech so we’ve interacted with tons of dogs, and I have to say, this guy has ZERO aggression. He also came from a family with a 4 year old who was all about roughhousing so he’s been awesome with my boys already. I don’t foresee any problems, but I will definitely have the kids feed him, I think that’s a really great idea and I appreciate the input.

Oh boy you’re a tall dude, so 60 or 62 it probably is.
I would probably go with a 60 or maybe even 59. If you have access to lending a bike in different sizes try them out.
