I completely understand why it moved. It had gotten to the point sometimes where I wondered why it was still there myself - until it moved and I realized it’s now in one of the places on this forum where some people who come onto a lifting forum to never talk about lifting will drag it down into PWI. It’s actually miraculous how few problems there have been in a thread that, if not for the post limit, would be closing in on 30,000 replies.
It turns out that seeing who doesn’t care about being bigger, stronger, or leaner on the T-Nation forums is a great way to weed out some people who some of us would rather not converse with regularly. I know you’re just following the rules though.
Oof. Not sure. I might, it’s definitely an option, but I’ve been doing pretty grueling and restrictive programs for like 4 months now. The options are DW Intermediate, a hypertrophy block with a Meadows program, the 10K KB Swing challenge to see what I’ve built, or just 5/3/1, and I’d like to hit all of those in the next year, so we’ll see what plays out.
Long story short, I could do intermediate, but I’m not ready to commit to that, haha.
I’d consider some Westside Barbell for Skinny Bastards or similar style conjugate. With all this time spent accumulating volume, you’d be set up to hit some crazy maxes, and you can do a bit of auto regulation.
Week 4 of deep water will start a day late, tomorrow. This is because this weekend I saw a guy training his son in boxing, both of them looked legit, I asked him if he trains people and he said he only works with his son anymore but would give me a few hours of his time and show me some stuff. Offered him money, he adamantly refused, and set up a time to meet me today. He spent over an hour with me, going over footwork, hands, protecting myself, etc. Drenched in sweat by the end, he’s gonna give me another hour+ next week, and then put me in contact with a trainer if I decide that’s what I want. It was a LOT of fun, I haven’t boxed in YEARS and some of it came back but there’s a whole lot of reinforcement that I forgot.
I don’t give a shit what anybody says - professional boxers are among the most well conditioned athletes in the world. Of course, I would mostly apply this to 12-round fighters.
Confession:
Butterbean is in my top 5 favorite boxers. This does not apply to him.
He literally punches some of these people into the air. Love it.
Haha what a great video, the dude just gets stronger the more you hit him, got sucked down the YouTube rabbit hole after that and watched his MMA fight which was basically boxing with a few elbows and kicks cause the other dude was never going to be able to get him to the ground.
Deep Water Beginner/Who knows cause I’m jumping in deep water now: Week 4, Day 1
Squats
185
3x10
Deadlifts 315x20 I wanted to pull a Big Jon and hit 21 just to not be limited by a round number, but it turns out that round number was my limit, as I shook like a cartoon character on the way up and my face was a shade of red that didn’t look remotely natural. Funnily enough, this came about as a result of a deadlift technique change that I implemented today. I’ve been hesitant to do anything about my technique since it’s been feeling good and I didn’t wanna over think it, but my grip-and-rip technique has made it impossible for me to use straps, so I did all my warmup sets by bending over, taking my deep breath and then standing into the bar a bit, and pushing the air down into a brace while squeezing my armpits and pulling the slack while sitting back, and just that motion would start to pull the bar off the ground. My grip was trashed today so I used straps for this main set, but hit a second set 4 minutes later of 315x10 and that was all I had in me.
Lunges
85 3x10
Switched up the Ab circuit and did 3 rounds to failure of 10 crunches and 10 Russian twists on the decline machine, just alternating between the two until I couldn’t anymore. Abs felt like they’d explode and I was pouring so much sweat everywhere that I felt guilty.
Finished with assault bike tabata.
Yeah, I’m making an effort to drop a bit of weight. The muscle gains have leveled off a bit and I noticed a bit more fluff than I’d want today, so I’ll just up my workload a bit and add conditioning so I can only reduce calories by a tiny bit. Would much rather add activity than reduce food at this point, with how well my eating has been going, but within the next month I’m gonna make a push to drop 15 lbs or so.
When I realized that I wasn’t going to throw up and I could stand without shaking after a few minutes, I died a little inside because that meant I had to go lift it again. Fortunately, failure was merciful and came quickly.
Great work Flap!!!
The last time I did a true deadlift AMRAP (90kg for 12 reps- I’m weak ), I curled up in a ball and cried for a good 5 min.
Honestly can’t imagine what 3 plates for almost double the reps would feel like
