Never used sleeves, so I can’t speak to them, but once I stopped tightening my belt so much and made it so that it only gets super tight if I brace properly and expand my core, I started feeling really safe wearing a belt.
For me, a belt is a must on heavy squats and deads, but can’t stand any other equipment on main movements. I pull mixed grip but my weights are so light, it doesn’t matter
Flap, where’d ya go???
First Mark, now you. What’s going on around here?
Maybe they both moved off into a cabin in the woods together?
@Frank_C and @Cyrrex thanks for checking in guys - had my mom and brother visiting over the weekend and now my wife’s sister and her husband are visiting through Friday. Constant commotion, limited sleep and work is busy too.
I did finally restart Deep Water on Monday, legs are feeling some kind of awful today after the clean pulls. Not sure exactly how psyched I am for another run through, but that was the plan and I’m sticking to it. Few weeks ain’t nothin.
Will log Mon/Tues in a bit here.

What other dirty thoughts have Bob been implanting in you ![]()
Clear evidence that you are indeed the victim ![]()
Told you I was. I have additional emotional scars now, on account of you not believing me in the first place.

Ugh. That looks like…fun?
I’d imagine it’s one of those things that’s harder than it looks, but… looked damn hard in the first place
Some guy at the gym was clearly frustrated about the lack of open squat racks so I told him I had 10 sets with 4 minute rest times and there’d be plenty of time for him to work in if he wanted. He was grateful and we bullshitted a bit between sets - less and less as the time went on, but it was still a welcome distraction from the misery. Only downside was he was much shorter than me so I dropped the pins to accommodate him and had to half squat the weight up on every first rep. Still, no biggie.
I’m surprised he took you up on it. People are weird about that stuff.
I generally refuse offers to work in because most people in the gym are significantly stronger and taller than me ![]()
He politely declined at first until I insisted. I’m a pretty straightforward person. I just said “listen dude, I’ll rack up whatever weight you want, I have enough rest that you can easily do your sets in between mine.” So he accepted and turned out to be a cool guy.
Yeah I dont know what the deal is with that. As if it’s so hard to change a few plates a few times. Though now I would have chalked it up to social fistancing or w/e
I had a guy steal my machine. I only take 60 sec rest between sets so he clearly just showed up out of nowhere and started using it. I returned and told him I was using it and offered to let him work in. He declined and left.
I know @T3hPwnisher has discussed this before but going to lift weights and then getting upset about having to lift weights is hilarious.
The mind runs wild.
Deep Water Beginner: Week 1, Day 3
OHP
135 5x10, 1x8, rest paused the last 2
125 4x10
Lateral Raises
30s 3x10
BB Curls
85 5x10
Sit-ups and back extensions 3x20 each
I tried. Also, I’m dumb, because it’s push press this week. I’m still psyched on 135 for 5x10, nearly 6x10 strict press. I am noticeably bigger. My shoulders are just rounder and fuller, arms are thicker, legs are having serious trouble fitting into pants.
Unfortunately, abs are only a faint outline, but I’m enjoying being stronger than usual enough to not give two shits right now. Can finally have an incline Bench for my chest day tomorrow. I’m in a good mood on the non-squat/deadlift days…the goal is 275 for 10x10 come Monday.
