Nothing to report besides my quad still hurting in a strained-kind-of-way and my legs feeling immensely DOMSful all around. Ain’t no thang. Neighbor spent enough time commenting on the elevated garden bed I made for my wife that I offered to make her one and she gave me her giant charcoal grill in return. I have the regular circle grill, but this one is a proper grill - chimney, adjustable coal rack that you can lift and drop with a crank, etc. Got some nice hardwood charcoal and slow cooked ribs, then made hot dogs, sausages, and steak. Had the most carbs I’ve had in these 5-ish weeks with 2 hot dog buns - one with a hot dog and 1 with a sausage.
I need carb, I love carb, hot dog and burger buns are a special kind of treat. Whenever we have them I have to tell my wife only make as many as we need… otherwise I’ll end up eating the damn buns.
Btw what’s the difference between a hot dog and a sausage?
Here a hot dog is a sausage in a bun.
And that charcoal grill sounds like a monster… I’ve got the circle grill as well, nothing is as good as food made on a grill.
My interpretation is that a hot dog is basically just a type of a sausage. It is best described as an irresponsible combination of pork tendons, buttholes and probably a fair share of rat poop, urine, severed fingers from employees, stuff like that. Hot dogs just taste a certain way, even if there are a range of shitty ones to really amazing ones.
Over here, a hotdog would also be called a frankfurter. I’m not quite clear what the difference is, but there definitely is one. I’d have mustard and ketchup on a hotdog, but only ketchup on a sausage in a bun.
Well, you don’t have to boil them if that is what you mean. Fry or grill them preferably.
But that reminds me of one important characteristic…hot dogs come pre-cooked. You can eat it straight from the package. I guess sausages are still raw?
It can work the same in the states, but you would use an article like “a hamburger” when describing in bread while just “hamburger” when it is just the meat.
Might have belonged in the Food Porn Thread after a moment there. But, it already seems as if crimes against Italy are being committed there and we’d just add to the chaos.
Most hot dogs are beef while sausage is pork. There are also turkey dogs which are obviously ground up turkey. All of them are leftovers from the butchering process.
I thought generally Hotdog requirements are generally to be a long straight sausage with a smoked flavour? Eyeballs and assholes optional ingredients, but usually a given.
