I know a place not far from my house that’s in the city limits. If we go there around 5pm then we will find turkey and deer just chillin on the side of the road…
Got my GoPlus 700lb barbell today. It’s so much shinier and prettier with a more aggressive knurling. I’d love to keep both but I knew that’d just piss off my wife and I can’t claim to need 2 barbells, so I listed the cheap one on the marketplace for 80 bucks and got a buyer on the way to my house already.
Good call. When all this blows over there will be a surplus of home gym goods hitting the marketplace. Need a crappy spare bar? Score one for $20.
I’ve been wondering if any one has had success with using swimming for the conditioning aspects of 5/3/1? Swimming is great on its own and compared to running as swimming is low-impact, high reward, but not sure how well it ties with 5/3/1. I guess it should be fine as long as you don’t overdo it that it impedes recovery?
I think @T3hPwnisher covered it. If it’s not impacting your recovery, go for it. I think swimming is just about the best thing you can do. I haven’t been able to swim as often as I’d like, but I had planned to use it as the bulk of my conditioning before all this hit.
Conditioning:
100 burpees for time. 22 minutes, lol. Had to go inside every dozen burpees or so to stop the kids from doing silly shit, so that upped my time significantly, but all in all I’d still have hit around 18-20 minutes, I’m sure. I was kind of hoping I’d slay them and then I’d be justified in not doing them, but my time was atrocious, I was gassed and sweaty, and now I know I have to do more burpees. Fuck.
100 band pullaparts
100 no-moneys
Have to eat, but going to do the plank+20 situps x3 this evening.
Btw, how are you guys there with regards to all this mess? Any confirmed cases near your area?
@anna_5588 would be proud ![]()
Also totally slacked on logging food yesterday - 6 boiled eggs, 6 scrambled eggs with taco meat, and then just meat and cheese tacos yesterday.
Today I’m making more of the korean beef except with turkey, and about to have 6 scrambled eggs with taco meat in wraps with greek yogurt and cheese.
We went from 0 cases at the beginning of this month to 300 confirmed cases as of today.
Dang…stay safe out there flap
Nice- now try 10EMOM for 10min
It’s like I said in another thread. My family are all healthy, and even my almost-70-year-old mother is super healthy and I doubt she’d die from it, but hospitals and supplies are already at capacity and we’re not even close to peaking. I’m not worried about my family or my job (my job is essential - manufacturing packaging for a ton of food and convenience products), but if we ‘reopen the economy’ (despite the fact that we never actually locked shit down) in a week, we’re going to see a LOT of unnecessary deaths from this. Outta my hands though. I’ll be fine, I’m sure.
I see I see. Glad to hear that!
That’s why hill sprints are such an amazing tool. I can’t run to save my life. I ran a handful of miles everyday when I boxed with horrendous form on blacktop asphalt. Any time I run hard now, my ankles, knees and hips are demolished. With hill sprints though, I use a 45+ degree hill where I almost have to crawl up and expend a massive amount of energy to go up 20 yards or so.
I’ve had people come with me and do them and although most hate doing them, none of them have ever had an injury from them and tend to get in shape faster than they did when they ran. Just food for thought.
Yeah, they’re just so efficient. I love efficient exercises. 10 hill sprints - sprint up, walk down. That’s enough to make you want to die.
Speaking of efficiency, if I could have one single machine in my house right now it’d be an assault bike. 4 minutes of intervals on one and you’re sweating balls. Love those things.
Being unable to do hill sprints is the best and worst thing about living in a super-flat area.
Yeah, that’s what I was trying to say - a ‘good’ time is around 10 minutes. I did more than double that. It was an atrocious but appropriate showing for somebody who hasn’t done a burpee in a while and has also gained 10 lbs and done more squatting than he’s done in 5 years.
Just ate my second meal of the day - tacos and more eggs WITH sausage and peppers on the side, big eats - and am sitting here feeling a bit sore from the lifting/accessory work yesterday and the 100 burpees this AM, and probably the last like 9 days of continual conditioning or lifting workouts, so I’m scratching the ab workout tonight and I’ll just do it tomorrow.
Final thought - the apocalypse is tough on gym-goers, man. I only had that listing up for about 30 seconds before I got an offer, and I waited the hour til the guy got to my house to mark it as sold in case he didn’t show, and in that time I had like 20 messages. The guy who came seemed real chill too, stocky as hell as well and it seemed like I made his day.
